Smarter people than you and I have been confused about the Holy Trinity over the centuries.
The doctrine of the Holy Trinity states that God is a single Being who exists, simultaneously and eternally, as three persons: the Father; the Son; and the Holy Spirit.
Since the 4th Century AD, in both Eastern and Western Christianity, this doctrine has been stated as "One God in Three Persons," all three of whom, as distinct and co-eternal "persons" share a single Divine nature.
How this works is not fully known and is one the the Christian mysteries.
There is a story told about St Augustine:
Augustine was walking along the seashore trying to figure out the mystery of the Holy Trinity and came up to a little boy. The boy was trying to pour the ocean into a hole in the sand with a seashell. Augustine told the boy what he was doing was impossible. Then the little boy told Augustine that it is also impossible for the mind of man to try to understand the mystery of the Holy Trinity. The little boy turned into an angel and disappeared.
With love in Christ.

The Catholic Encyclopedia calls the Trinity teaching “the central doctrine of the Christian religion,” defining it this way: “In the unity of the Godhead there are Three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these Three Persons being truly distinct one from another. Thus, in the words of the Athanasian Creed: ‘the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods but one God.’ . . . The Persons are co-eternal and co-equal: all alike are uncreated and omnipotent.” The Trinity doctrine includes the following definite ideas: 1. There are said to be three divine persons—the Father, the Son, and the holy spirit—in the Godhead. 2. Each of these separate persons is said to be eternal, none coming before or after the other in time. 3. Each is said to be almighty, with none greater or lesser than the other. 4. Each is said to be omniscient, knowing all things. 5. Each is said to be true God. 6. However, it is said that there are not three Gods but only one God. Is the trinity Biblical? Search as you may, you will not find one scripture that uses the word Trinity, nor will you find any that says that Father, Son, and holy spirit are equal in all ways, such as in eternity, power, position, and wisdom. Not even a single scripture says that the Son is equal to the Father in those ways—and if there were such a scripture, it would establish not a Trinity but at most a “duality.” Nowhere does the Bible equate the holy spirit with the Father.

RE:
What does the holy trinity really mean?
I've studied christianity in school and learned about the holy trinity. I believe that some people see the father, the son and the holy spirit as the same thing, while other people see them as seperate things. What does it actually mean? How can you be the father, yet the son, yet the holy...

It's the occult version of the truth. The father, the son and the holy mother. No one part can exist without the other two. This, unfortunately is what occultists do, they hide knowledge, sometimes the most freakin' obvious things in plain sight, and nobody can see it because it's so bloody obvious. Therefore they believe the lie, and they pay money for it too, because it sounds good, but they can't put their finger on why exactly. Then they follow an endless rabbit hole which all started with a lie, and by the end of it they only wasted their time supporting a con artist who gets to live like an emperor because he is supported by all occult societies who see it as mutually beneficial not to reveal the secrets.

the trinity or the tri-unity as it is often known is the father the son the holy spirit, all have there own bodys or spirits, jesus was on the earth ,god is in the heaven, the holy spirit was in heaven but is now down here guiding and fulfilling the things god has given him to do, the reason i say this is because although they have seperate beings ,they all have the same things in mind ,to know jesus is to know god and the holy spirit they are all one in mind they are all in one accord they do the same things, although they are three and are called the trinity they are in fact seperate, also a good way of looking at the trinity is a egg its shell its white of an egg and then there is the yolk so there is three seperate parts to an egg but it still one egg

The trinity as you know is the father son and holy spirit make up one God. each could be separate but all together make up the whole of God. If you believe that you have a spirit you can begin to understand how this works. If your body dies you do not die you carry on because you are more that just you body. God said Let us create man in our image he made the body and breathed in the spirit and the two became a living soul. We are more that just flesh...God is more that just one part too he is the father son and holy spirit and the three are one God.

Good question. Yes, the trinity is real, but few seem to study it enough to fully understand it and I didnt for years.
The Bible clearly tells us that God is God, Jesus is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. There are three seperate individuals that operate under the 1 Title of GOD> Each has a job. God creates everything, Father God. Jesus came to save. and the Holy Spirit is the one that leads to conviction. All three work together as one God to carry out the plan that was from the beginning Father God resurrected jesus. Reember when Jesus said WHY HAST THO FORSAKEN ME? one cant forsake themselves.. There is much study aobut all this, and I have only touched on the surface. takes much reading and study of Gods word, not just reading it and skimming it over, and prayer in asking God to reveal truth to you. It is there so clear. PPL just give up and dont keep looking for it. the devil seeks too confuse and make one give up. Holy spirit keeps drawing us back, but we deceide if we listen or not. Hope that gives you something to hang onto and then go study for yourself. Only you can friend TRUTH for yourself. LIsten only to God and truth will come. I will list a few triune God scriptures for you. the word trinity never appears, but is based on the biblical description of a triune God, three in one.
1. 1 Tim 3:16
2. Titus 213
3. Acts 5:3-4
These explain that all three as God and work together as one. Each has a very different role. So awesome how it works. Press on in study and truth you wil find..
