Good day. Yur setup cd may be scratched. Try and copy all the contents onto your hard drive and burn them on a cd. U MUST HAVE THE PRODUCT KEY - Very Important. Normally written on the box the cd came from, on the cd itself, as a tag on the side of yur computer or under yur laptop. Clean yur setup cd with normal tissue and water. Dry & Try again. If u have a XP Copy tho, the person who burn the cd may have burn it too fast so data errors may have occured while burning. Laterz.

The CD is bad. You can try ejecting it, cleaning it, and replacing it. Then try to install again. This may get rid of the errors.

In the worst case, you may have to buy a new CD.

First respondant is correct. All clues point to a damaged sector on the CD.

If it is the original Microsoft CD they will provide you with a replacement ( at a cost).

If it is a copy .... get another one where you got his one.
