Because we are told from day one now that everything bad in life is someone else's fault. Personal responsibility becomes a thing of the past. I had the huge misfortune of being in the room while Oprah was on the other day and she was talking to a girl that hid her pregnancy and killed the baby when it was born. The girl continually referred to "this thing that happened" as if she was merely a witness to it.

A lot of people don't know all the laws in their area. Do you know every law, statute, and ordinance in your city, town, and state? It may be a mistake if they didn't know it was illegal but ignorance of the law is not a valid defense.

Because some law breakers are incredibly well versed in "plausible denial" -which they use to weasel out of criminal investigations, suspicious actions, etc.

Many, many laws are worded so the law enforcement team MUST prove "intent" and well as probable cause.

So who says crooks are stupid???

Same reason guys when they get caught cheating say it was a mistake and that they will never do it again. No one wants to go to jail. so of course everyone will try to get out of what ever it was they did.

Because if they call it what it is, they have to face up to them selves and that they are a low life criminal who broke the law.
