I lost 15lbs. from the worst FLU I have ever had last Sat. night.

I'd like to go and start working out again to gain some back but my stomache still feels weak when I eat. It has been about 4 days since the FLU. How long should I wait to start hitting the gym again and not get sick from my already weakened immune system?

hi im a personal trainer. if you have recovered from the flu and all symptoms have gone, then you can get straight back into the gym. (symptoms include tiredness, dehydration, generall feeling ill!)

when you do start using the gym again, you wil need to adapt your programme/ training to ensure you start a t a lower level to slowly build up again. if you go and do heavy sessions right from the begining your are likely to cause injury and further illnesses. hope this hlps!

get well x

Please don't return to the gym until you feel 100%. I used to think it was a good idea to go and sweat it out, but apprarently not. This is why you hear of relatively young, fit people exercising and suddenly dropping dead. If they have any kind of virus in their system, then it can travel into the heart. I know this is a very rare occurance, but really you don't want to take the chance. Stay away until you no longer have any symptoms.

i've read somewhere, just last week that working out when you are sick is actually very good. They said if you are sick below your neck you shouldn't but for flus and colds, go for it. however they did advise to take it a little easier than normal. Hope that helps

You should go back as soon as you feel ready. There's no formal time frame or medical time frame. When you feel like going, then go.
