Firstly, I am not trying to offend anyone, just wanting to get other views. I know that Ouija boards are thought of as evil. I'm a Christian (still a work in progress :-p) and I know that things of that nature are considered not of God; i've also never believed that they work anyway. I guess what i'm trying to ask, is from other Christians' perspectives, do you believe that people can actually contact spirits and entities through a Ouija board, and that's why it's evil, OR do you believe that the Ouija board itself is fake, but is still evil because of it's purpose and because the INTENT of those that use it, is for something that is disobedient to the word of God (wizardry, sorcery, etc.)?

First

The bible not only tells us that the spirits exist (both evil and non evil) but it tells us not to try and contact them. The bible further states that if you are contacted by a spirtit that you are to ask in who's name they come to you by and the answer had better be Jesus Christ the risin son of God.

Now, as for any man made thing such as the board in question, of course it has no morality to it, it is neither good nor bad until a person adds their thoughts and desires to it. We stay away from it because of the reason it was made, not because it has any powers per se.

As a way of probing into the unknown, the Ouija board is a form of divination. The Bible, at 1 Samuel 15:23, places divination parallel with the use of “uncanny power.” Many who use the Ouija board attest to acquiring “psychic” ability, a truly uncanny, mysterious power that enables them to know things about other persons and events without using normal means of communication. What could be behind that power?
The Bible book of Acts of the Apostles pinpoints the source of a certain servant girl’s ability to predict the future as being “a spirit, a demon of divination.” When the apostle Paul ordered the spirit to “come out of her,” she lost her power of prediction. (Acts 16:16-19) Could the Ouija board, too, involve wicked spirits, or demons?

“Some researchers warn,” observes Russell Chandler, “that the game can lure the susceptible into the weird world of spirit communication—even demonic possession.” Harold Sherman, president of the ESP Research Associates Foundation in Little Rock, Arkansas, observes: “The majority who have become involved with possessive and other spirit entities came by this experience through the Ouija board.”

Should you explore something that both the Bible and real-life experiences show can be related to “wicked spirit forces”? (Eph. 6:12) Surely the Scriptures are reasonable when asking: “Can a man rake together fire into his bosom and yet his very garments not be burned?”—Prov. 6:27.

I'm a Christian (I admit not the "best") but I do believe there are evil spirits and there are ways to contact them if you open yourself up to them. From what I've learned on the subject I think Ouija boards welcome low level/evil spirits not higher level/good spirits and should be avoided. I realize some of this may/does conflict with Christian view points, but Catholism is the religion I use as a guide, not my rule-book for life...

We do have a spirit within that has telpathic and empathic ability. We can
communicate with other lifeforms out there.
Spirit communication is not a game however, and that is the danger of using
Ouija boards. It looks like a game.
There are negative entities that turn into an obsession, (spirit hanging around a
particular person), and hauntings.
Jesus wanted us to experience our spirituality. But always ask for guidance and
protection from our Highest Power.

A Ouija board is a toy. It's fake. That being said..it's realm is of the occult, right? Supposedly contacting spirits who make that little pointed plastic think spell out words? If satan and/or his demons so desire, they could play around with the people who are playing around with the Ouija board.

The point is...if you dabble in anything of the occult, even if you think it's just a joke/for fun/whatever, you are throwing open a door, smiling to satan and saying, c'mon in, I'm interested in hearing from you!

Everyone's relationship with God is personal so you can believe whatever you want. Personally I don't believe in Ouija boards because I think they are fake. It is not evil but it is not a good thing morally if you con ignorant people with it.

I don't think of it as evil.
It is a game that tries to tell you a spirit is directing or giving an answer.
You may be correct on the intent of the game and not necessarily that it works.
I believe that the game was marketed as a sorcery object, therefore getting attention and selling.
It cannot tell the future or decide your life.
If it did that there would be a lot more millionaires out there.

We are all work in progress.

God Bless.

The possibility is that you are opening yourself up to be in contact with other entities, and it can be considered sorcery. As a christian you never want to leave yourself open to this type of thing, it is more important to concentrate on the Spirit of God.

Either way it is wrong to seek forbidden knowledge. The Bible warns to keep away from things such as witchcraft and familiar spirits. Newer translations of the Bible list Ouija boards as being forbidden.
If you need to know something, ask the One that created everything.

I believe that it is evil because of the intent. People use these to usher in spirits and we know all that an ungodly spirit will come if hearts or minds are open to it or maybe even doubtful which brings on a stronger spirit of fear and open up avenues in their lives that only God can come to the rescue or people who are spiritually strong in their faiths to cast it out of their lives.
