Theists. Most people are theists, so a theist nation would have more people to advance technology.
Theists. Most scientists are theists.
Theists.
(Theist isn't necessarily Christian!)
EDIT: 3.8% of the population is atheist--You'd have to be a fool to think this minority makes up 71% of scientists. And your "survey" of the NAS is no indication of reality (most scientists aren't in the NAS and 500 members of the more populated NAS indicates a non-random sampling). Most scientists believe in theism, only because the majority of the world does. Scientists being doctors, engineers, linguists, psychologists, etc. And what gave you the idea even a slight majority of hoplogists are atheists? I'd think that's a theistic vitriol.

I am atheist and I am also scientist by the way, but I don't invent weapons and I don't want to, and I don't think that inventing weapons to kill more people is a great human achievement, and I want to live in peace with others instead of gaining great power with weapons.
I am not American by the way.
To answer the question I would like to add that during the Cold War the Soviet Union was an officially atheist nation in which religion was persecuted while the USA are until now a predominantly Christian nation that is the most powerful nation at the moment, esp. regarding the military, this is a fact. Religious people only reject certain aspects of science, like the theory of evolution, this doesn't stop them from inventing weapons. Again I want to say that inventing weapons is not something to be proud of.

Atheists would be far superior in economy and technology.
The theists wouldn't even HAVE science classes in school...
And even though the theists would have SOME scientists, the Atheists would have a LOT more...
We'd have better computers, better medicine, better weapons, better entertainment, satellites, space stations, and we'd probably have a moon base.
All they'd have are churches and mosques and crap like that...
The Atheists would be more focused on actual education. We'd have a great public education system. The theistic education system would involve a lot of holy texts etc, which provide no practical uses in the world...
(Most scientists AREN't theists... Although there are a few of them, they are definitely outnumbered by Atheists. I've seen many graphs on this)

Most wars are based on opposing religious beliefs..not all but most.
Atheists would have more scientists.
I just don't see scientists going against each other to build weapons for power purposes.
And Atheists would be way more advanced.. "stem cell research" would be a bonus. But there could be a downside by going overboard on their scientific experiments.. we could end up with some really mutated creatures.

I am Catholic. But I support things like Stem-Cell research.
Honestly, I think the Atheists would have better technology, because they wouldn't have people with opinions that things like Stem-Cell research is wrong.
There would not be as many ethical walls.
However, there are a lot of christian scientists out there. And I don't think you can assume which nation would develop better weapons.

I would guess that the atheists would have the better technology.
Which might be an argument for this atheist to go live with the theists.
Tech is all well and good, but I think some people rely too much on it (cell phone users, those raspberry devices, etc.)

Atheists would be more advance in technology, as they would get on and invent things based on theories and evidence, theists would be waiting for god to invent things.
Atheists would have more scientists, as they are far more logical.
Although I don't agree with weapons, atheists would be able to build better weapons if they wanted them. Theists would be more likely to use them for anyone who was against their religion/beliefs.

I think that the advances in Western civilization--as we know it today crap, warts, and all--were due to THEISTS. There are few Aetheists back ( 18th century backwards) then when modern society just started. We can probably just count a couple ( not probably greater than 150) of Atheist scientist that contributed to our present civilization, err mess.
Just my observation. Could be wrong.

Before another spout of "christian science" befouls this thread, 93% of NAS are atheists. that does not guarantee the rest to be christian either.
OK 7% are christian and only 72% atheist. I was thinking 93% agnostic/atheist I guess Thanks for the correction. The Royal Society (UK equivalent of NAS) has similar results

So shall we see an atheist us of a like China and the former Soviet Union and perhaps Cuba. compared to a us of a like the u . s ., England, Italy or Canada. the answer looks rather obtrusive. bear in mind most of the pilgrims got here the following for the liberty to worship God. over the years we've forgotten how and by whom our countries were depending. of route we were blessed by their administration and ideology.
