Federal law states that the public has to be informed when the person moves. However, on your local state website, there is a list of convicted sex offenders and their addresses. It is the responsibility of the public to use the resources at hand.

You are "allowed" to be informed. Sex offenders are have to register and many are tracked. There are umpteen websites that list the offenders in your neighborhood, city, and state. All it takes is a few minutes on the computer to find the information.

Do they track released murderers, robbers, etc?

The problem here is not that we might not know where they live, but that they're ever released AT ALL!

If they're so dangerous after serving their sentence, why aren't our legislatures making pedophilia a life sentence witout parole? Why do they so casually put children at risk?

I think it should be mandatory that the public is informed. We should have every right to protect our children. And knowledge is power.
