The christians often resort to using the, "everything must have a cause blah blah," argument. Then, when they get to god, they throw that out.
They still insist though that the big bang theory provide a "cause"
What they are not capable of understanding is that by definition, a cause comes before an event. If time began with the universe, "before" does not even apply to it, and it is logically impossible that the universe be caused.
If, as some claim, God does not need a cause, then by the same reasoning, neither does the universe.

no it was over millions of years with small evolutionary changes along the way till we ended up where we are today
mind you with the state of the earth and what the human race has done to it maybe we need a god

This is VERY hard for humans to get their head round. God is the word we use for the power behind everything. No-one created God. God is eternal. It is impossible for us to understand eternity because everything in our world has a beginning and an end. We have the circle of life. Try to understand it like this:

Well, i don't really understand it myself, but you dont need to understand, just ask God for strength in your life. Ask and it shall be given. Seek and you shall find.

Time was created which gives us before this and that. saw a programme once which intimated the big bang brought time into being...........a big beyond my brain but an interesting thought no.
