I'm not sensitive about every little comment. Some atheists on here have made valid points, and I have respected them for it. But when atheists start going on about how we are "full of crap" and we are not as evolved as they are, it does make us angry.

And not to sound like a smart alec, but why is it the mere mention of Christianity automatically means I'm "shoving it down your throat"?

I was reading questions and it was fairly obvious that if "we" were not Christian...then many Christians answered with ..You're stupid..You're ignorant.. etc..

So I asked a question on why they made such derogatory remarks and added ..only some Christians did this.

I am getting some really good answers.

I do agree with you that there is a sensitivity within the Christian realm re: atheists/agnostics

It does seem that with some Christians if you don't believe in God, then you're a real "loser" in the mind of some...... no matter how innocent the question might be

It's almost like they are really frightened by the fact that "we" may be facing..eternal damnation..!!

T'aint so.

Some are, some are not.

And it would depend so much on the tone of the comments, wouldn't it?

This is really very amusing to me to see all the posts about how Christians (or Atheists, or Hindus, or Muslims, or Pagans, or Anglos, or Hispanics, etc. etc. etc.) are so sensitive about comments by others.

Y'all crack me up. Not this question any more than the others, but the plethora of similar whines from all the different people who feel that they, and only they, are the ones taking the beating.

It's always the other guy picking on you, isn't it?

It's "different" when WE do it.

I really don't understand the Question, but I'm wondering if the Christians are wondering the same thing about you... You know? You ask Questions about Christians being sensitive about stuff, but what do you do to their Questions? Are you understanding? Or do you just make fun? I think that everyone should be respectful, but I also think that everyone has a right to state their own opinion WITHOUT making fun or bashing anyone else.

because christians are ignorant of the history of their faith and when presented evidence to the contrary or challenged in their beliefs they feel threatened. "most" christians cannot have an honest conversation about their faith because faith is justification for beliefs without using reason.

The Christian is the one making a claim, an extraordinary claim at that, so extraordinary evidence is required of them, not the skeptic. The problem is they have no evidence.

and to answer this question above...

Why are atheists so sensitive about Christians having Christmas related decorations out during the holidays?

...you do realize that Christmas was a pagan holiday that christianity hijacked right ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pagan_Beliefs_Surrounding_Christmas
you do realize your bible says that you should NOT have a christmas tree, right ?

the practice of having "Christmas Trees" is prohibited by the Book of Jeremiah 10:1-5 which says,

For the customs of the people [are] vain: for [one] cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. KJV.

Your question is really generalized, not all Christian are so sensitive. I'm not.
And let me ask, why are most atheists/agnostics so sensitive wen Christians show, display, or mention their faith. Even when they are not pushy?

People are only sensitive about others comments when the other is rude. We both need to be polite and respect the other persons beliefs. I don't dis athiest/agnostics and my athiest/agnostic friends don't dis me.

Because they believe they cant be wrong. Remember they got God on their side. If Jesus did come back, there would be a lot of surprised Christians on their way to hell. Jim Baker leading the charge and ´Jerry Falwell bringing up the rear. Haggert whipping the Jesus People to a frenzy on the hot rails. Jesus is used so much to get a kneejerk reaction. They get rich off his time on the cross. He must hate seeing crucifixs around everybodies neck reminding him of his time there. Judge not lest ye.....

First of all, not all Christians are sensitive about every little comment, but isn't it funny how every atheist that I have talked to is very sensitive about all of my comments?
