I want to download music, movies and all kind of good software as well. can anybody tell me what is the best resource to do this?

Like the prior contributor, torrent is probably the best bet now. It is the most common P2P now for downloading movies, videos, music and everything else you can imagine.
BitTorrent is the new peer to peer so be aware that while you are downloading, if you don't know how to setup your options, you can also be uploading content to other people and will slow down your internet connection.
You need to install a bittorrent client such as comet or azureus.
Then go to these websites and search for what you want:

Azureus http://azureus.sourceforge.net/...
Of course, copyright laws always applies...

Try "LIMEWIRE" - its free and it is a great way to get all the music and movies you want because it is all about file sharing..
I heard that they were trying to stop it - but i still use it to burn all my personal favorites...good luck - enjoy

try torrent sites....uhave to get a torrent client......download the torrent that u want to download.....and u can start
Bearshare Bearflix Kazaa Shareaza are all good ones
but these are not very legal......frankly speaking ILLEGAL
