I think the church could readily be classified as a services type of business so if you made it's catalogue (the bible) subject to the Trades Descriptions Act, as other businesses catalogues and brochures are, what would be left?

The Jeffersonian Bible is what you would have. Thomas Jefferson thought the Bible was full of a lot of rubbish but that parts of it had value for people so he published his own version with the offending parts removed.
