Did anyone here see richard dawkins on the recent south park episode?
What did you think of the episode?
Also, does anyone know if dawkins has issued a statement about the episode.

thanks
(and I know this is the R&S section, but I still thought it would be the best one to ask.)

Well, I enjoy a joke at my expense (being atheist) as long as it is good. I found the one about the rainforest to be funny even though it made fun of something I believe in. All they tried to do was insult Dawkins without being clever or funny in the last one. That is a real let down. This whole season has seemed to be poor quality (except the wow one). That may just be me, and I am sure if I watch them again later, they won't seem so bad, but the show is not as good right now as it was. Maybe south park is just going through a phase.

The point was that without religion people would fight about other things. This is true, but without religion to make us soooo divided due to the strength, stubbornness, and an unwillingness to be open minded that accompany religious belief, men would be more united. Without religion to divide us, we would be more united and work together more. We would still fight, just less and about important things like resources rather than religion. But then again, if we were not divided by religion, we may share resources more.

edit:I just watched part 2 of that episode on-line, and it was not as bad as the first part. I actually enjoyed it. I will always like south park, just not a few of the ones this season.

They have made better points with their episodes. They were trying to make the point if there were no religions and only science that we would fight over aspects of science just as the various religions fight over their points.

I think it was hilarious. And they bring up a good point, even if religion were completely stamped out, people would find a way to have differences and war.
