Goth is a kind of music that has developed subgenres--and therefore, it has become its own subculture. It has nothing to do with Satanism. Goths can be Satanists, but they can be of any other religion, too.

Goth culture and Satanism are two very different things. Of all the goths I've met (and that's a lot), most have been Wiccans rather than Satanists. I also know some Christian goths. One can be of any religious belief and still engage in the goth lifestyle. And there are several different types of goths out there. They're not all alike, just like any other group.

Goth is a culture of fashion and music
Satanism is a religion, one in which has nothing to do with the Christian devil.
Goth's can be Satanist but that is a choice. There are also Goth's who are Christian so the idea of Goth's being Satanic is just a stereotype which media plays up.

Nothing to do with each other, but some people who don't really understand the look may perceive it as being Satanistic.
