Because life is misery with the occasional flash of pleasure. Just make sure you enjoy the temporary flashes of pleasure.

Without information about your life, age, conditions, diet, work, expectations, etc. no-one can tell you the answer.
But you do know that your attitude to life might be making you miserable.
Look around you and realise how fortunate you are. I am assuming you have reasonable health, all four limbs, sight, hearing, etc.
Think how you would cope if you were blind or deaf or without limbs, or in pain. Realise how fortunate you are.
If this does not help, consider asking your GP to see a psychologist and explain to him/her your state of mind and whether you can get help.
Sometimes it helps just to express yourself to someone, a kind listener can indeed "halve your problems". Perhaps a medication is necessary, make sure it is NOT prozac, but something light to take the edge of this sadness and give you a buck up.
Walk a lot, and observe people. You might be expecting a level of happiness which does not exist. No-one is happy all the time.
Finally, make a list of what you think your problems are and try to change your life....with exercise, with a job that interests you, or an evening-course where you can learn something new, a language or a different country's cuisine to cook.
We only have this one life: it costs the same to be happy as to be miserable. Learn how to be happy.
Good luck!

why am i so miserable?

Sometimes misery comes from personal experiences that negatively affect our emotional state. inflicted by ourselves , others or both

Misery may come from an imbalance created by drugs, alcohol, or certain chemical imbalances created by specific brain disorders

misery can come from a rotten diet consisting of junk food and very few vitamins minerals and enzymes the human body needs to feel good. lack of fresh water can cause misery because of being in a state of dehydration and not even realizing it!

There are many reasons for feeling miserable but only you can figure out what they are through research and changing your lifestyle habits. It may be the people you are exposed to regularly that are bringing you down. the only person who can figure this out is you. Dont give up it may take some time but with dedication you can find a solution.

And remember life isn't always filled with bliss. Misery is a natural part of our lives. however if youre miserable more often than not or more often then is considered healthy and find it painful. seek a solution.

You are miserable because there is something in your life that is not allowing you to be happy and fullfill your needs. You need to go through and find what is not making you happy and change it. Easier said than done but you have to start somewhere.

It is possible that you may need to seek professional medical help in order to get you started and help sort through the things in your life that are causing misery.

Don't be embarrassed to ask for help and know that once you do, things will begin to open up for you and get easier.

Good Luck with everything!

Stop saying that you are miserable, that will give you a start. Try helping people that are less fornutant that you are. You can go to the Chirstmas box house and read to children. Doing this will help yourself to love life. Set some goals that you want! Good Luck.

Hi Gusitoo. First you have to THINK POSITIVE. Did you know that we are able to create our own reality?. Yes, thoughts are energy that turns into reality. If you think you are miserable => you will actually be. I know life can have "downs" but you are the one who decides to get out of the hole and move forward.
I suffer from depression but I am struggling to get out of it.
Please try to find out what is making you feel miserable and correct it. Maybe a GOOD shrink will help you. Good luck. Adriana

life is only bad if you look at it that way. there IS a silver lining to every cloud. you just have to be optimistic.

my life used to suck but that's because i was so far down that i didn't have anything to help me get back up. my life was falling apart. then, a guy came into my life who helped me stop drinking, cutting, and doing drugs. its like he was an angel sent from heaven.

and you know what? about a week before, i had fallen asleep crying and begging god to send me down an angel to help and protect me. that is why i believe.

either wait for that good thing to come into your life or take all the good things in your life and those will pick you up from the deep hole you're in

if you can't think of anything to explain your misery - something happening in your life - then go and talk to someone.
first stop could be a GP, but some of them aren't too clued up on mental health, so it would be worth getting a secxond opinion if they're less than helpful.

don't upset yourself though, or be embarassed, there are literally millions of people out there who feel the same, and there are excellent treatments. you just need to take the first step.
good luck and i hope you come out of it.

I am too at this time of year.... I always feel really low when the days start getting shorter. I also get very depressed when I am tired - I just try and think of the nice feelings I have when I am not sad
