Have his teeth checked sounds like he has mouth sores. Do you feed him alot of canned cat food? Open his mouth and look for blackness around his gum areas.

Is he other wise healthy(not loosing weigh, normal steeping patterns, eating ok, is he active as normal, is he dehydrated)? If not he may have been poisoned if he is able to get outside or into anything inside that would do that. Or he could be diabetic or have feline leukemia. If he has any other changes besides that, go see a vet. I had a cat that was doing the same thing(he had other symptoms though)and it was very serious. Keep an eye on him and make sure he is drinking enough. I ended up force feeding my cat pedialite with a dropper. Let me know how it goes.

Have you been to a vet or called a vet, drooling can and might be a sign that the cat has gotten into something not really healthy. It is also a sign of bad teeth and gums, and many other things. Your best bet is to see a vet, You may also research your question here http://peteducation.com/ I hope this was in some way helpful to you.

Please go to the vet with this one if the symptoms persist for more than 24 hours. He may have an abcess in the mouth from catching a small rodent that may have bitten him on the tongue, oral cancer, or a certain type of kidney disease. A course of antibiotics may be prescribed first to avoid costly testing. Let's not address the rest of the possible issues now. If that doesn't work, well , let's not go there now. Their med probs can be as difficult and as expensive as ours and few of us can afford health insurance on our pets.

Looking at other answers, I agree that a dental problem is the first to address, especially if he has been on soft food. I truely hope that's the answer to your cat's trouble.

It sounds like a dental problem. Open it's mouth, if it will let you and check around the gum area and cheeks. I would definitely take him to the vet as they know all the tricks of the trade to get a cat to open it's mouth and poke around. Don't let it go on however, because whatever it is will only get worse.

You definitely should look in his mouth. If his gums look red and inflamed he will need a dental cleaning by the vet.

I take all my cats in for annual exams and some of them have to have their teeth cleaned every year, some every other year. Bacteria and plaque from poor dental conditions can cause infection in the liver and kidneys of cats so it is very important to keep the mouth healthy and clean.

Dental problem maybe, broken mandible is another problem with excessive drooling. An abcess or worse, a forgien body. Have it checked out. I wouldn't let this go with out a trip to the VET.
