well no...see a means "not" or "opposite of" for example symmetrical and asymmetrical.

a "thiest" is someone who believes in the divine so an athiest would be someone who does not.

Gnostic means knowledge, an agnostic doesn't have knowledge or thus doesn't believe that we can know if there is the divine.

did you notice the two words start with a and the last word does not
