Kids love bright activities. Try washable finger paints, taking them to the library for story time, leap frog, let tehm make their own creative music or by sing alongs. I bought a karoke machine for my kids and a keyboard and toy guitar and we would turn on the karoke machine and let them sing and watch each other on the TV. Kids like playing along with music. Musical chairs etc.

For the 6 year old, what about Leapster games? They look pretty fun and informative. I always like puzzles with animals and U.S. States and countries. Musical toys and 'talking' toys are great for 1 year olds development. Try getting down and playing with them. Ask them questions like "what color is the circle" or "what sound does that make". Anything to stimulate their mind. Be creative and don't be afraid of being silly. Best of luck!

Have you ever tried Kumon activity and learning books? My toddler loves them so much I started selling them! You can find some on my site, http://www.GoodfortheKids.com. I'm a stay-at-home mom trying to supplement my "retirement", so check out what I have for toddlers and preschoolers!

Make cookies with them, do an arts and crafts project, help them make Christmas Lists for Santa, play a board game, go through old clothes and toys with them and gather them up for charity, invite a few other kids over for a play date, etc.

Read to them. All kids love reading and the one-on-one attention, it's also teaching them how to read
