Who here kinda likes their inlaws, or i should say tolerates them but wishes the brother in laws and sister inlaws would get off their high horses and accept the fact that you are who you are, and that your not as "perfect" as they are (or think they are), and would stop talking down to you and making fun of you as if you didnt notice?

My in-laws are the opposite. Both siblings are losers. Just grin and bare it. I try to avoid them whenever possible. Tolerate them at family gatherings.

If it bothers you, let them know politely that you don't appreciate the comments that they make and would like it if they could stop. If it continues, just ignore them. They may be 'perfect', but they're really just immature little kids. Try not to spend time with them outside of holidays and birthdays. I don't and I'm happier for it.

first what is your husband saying ? and why is he not defending you. I'm sure he sees and hears even if you are not saying something( but i hope you have) . and after being in the family for ten years and you still allow this type of abuse is crazy. As of right know you stand up for yourself and let them know that you will no longer tolerate there behavior to you, and if they can not be cordial or polite to you then you remove yourself from situation. and if your husband does not like it then tell him to get a back bone and stop the nonsense or you will not be going to anymore of his family functions nor will they be allowed at your home. If he can not understand then maybe you need to rethink things , I have experienced the same problem when i was married but i did not wait ten years I addressed it right away and yes for the first two years of my marriage i did not attend anything nor my husband and yes we had plenty of parties and they were not apart of OUR festivities. and on the 3rd year they made up with me and we all got along great . some people get off on bulling and yes that is what they are doing so check your husband and band together as one and stop the craziness lol

You should talk to your husband about it. It is his job to make sure that his family is treating you properly. Tell him what they have been saying and doing. Tell him how you feel about it and that you don't want to tolerate it anymore. If he's a good husband, he will have a talk with his family to get it straightened out. It might be a good idea to have him watch for the bad behavior and "catch" them treating you badly. Then he can step up right there and let them know that that's not acceptable behavior. If you're at the in-laws' house, you and your husband can leave. If you're at your house, your husband can tell them that they need to treat you with respect or they need to leave. Good Luck!

I'm sorry to here about that guess what you are not the only one. My mum & I have just been kicked out of our home due to a inlaw....how unfair is that......& not only that extreamly SAD.....We cannot talk to the inlaw that did this to us & we have lost a daughter/sister over it as the inlaw is married to her.
LIFE SUCKS & HURTS BAD.

I tolerate my in-laws, but I also choose to stay away as much as possible. I don't want them to change me- because I am who I am.... and I don't want to change them- because they are who they are. You have the choice to see them or not see them.... not wanting to see them or be around them also sometimes means that you won't be around the people who you like a lot (at family gatherings),... so if you choose to be around everyone- practice being distant towards those who you think are not healthy for you, even if you are with them in one room. Focus on the people who make you feel good about yourself. Talk to those people, be courteous to them and give them a lot of attention.... and stay away from the mean ones. This is possible even when being with them in one room.... try- you will get better and better at it. If those mean ones confront you... just tell them straight- "I don't like talking to you, because you are an _ss___le!" I said this to my cousin's husband once- I looked him straight in the eyes, and we became friends afterwards.

I love my father in law...

BOTH of my sister in laws are, Fricking Itchies...I no longer even talk to them.

When they walk in the room - I don't even acknowledge them.

They gossip - cause problems and treat me like crap. I decided last Xmas that I did not deserve the way they treated me and vowed to never let it happen to me again.

AS for the MIL.....she can sit in the boat with them....bunch of bitter hags - all three of them!

hear hear!!

unfortuantely, my brother-in-law, control freak that he is, has managed to uproot my sister and her kids (from her previous marriage) and disappear!

but before he did that, he was unbearable. a know-it-all, always right, and less than kind to the kids. and always had an excuse for it.
