Its called the PHONETIC LANGUAGE and goes further than just an alphabet. It was designed to remove the ambiguity that the sounds of letters and certain words made over old HF radios that were very distorted. You can imagine what position M and position N would have sounded like on poor radio frequency. They would ahve been indistinguishable and non precise. So these words and letters were used , ALSO THEY SIGNIFY NOTHING MORE THAN THE LETTERS THEY REPRESENT.

A - ALPHA B-BRAVO C-CHARLIE D-DELTA E-ECHO
F-FOXTROT G-GOLF H-HOTEL I-INDIA J-JULIET K-KILLO
L-LIMA M-MIKE N-NOVEMBER O-OSCAR P-PAPPA Q-QUEBEC R-ROMEO S-SIERRA T-TANGO U-UNIFORM V-VICTOR W-WHISKEY X- X-RAY Y-YANKEE Z-ZULU.

Ask me about the other words changed to suit the radio for clarity as you like.
PS- now those positions would be position mike and position november - a massive distinction is now possible.

I can't name them all, but they just use a word that starts with the letter they need, to make sure it's clear because some letters sound the same. Like for A they would say Alpha, for B Bravo, etc. I don't know if there are specific ones, or if they just make them up as they go along.
