Jumping under a bus?
Did you buy shares in the company?
Why bother using deodorant if you're gonna smell like a ciggy?
(ok so that one was nasty).
...at least you will save on tanning sessions...
...and get 'the mature look' that much sooner.

And an anecdote...
The worst is that they get dogs to smoke as part of the testing process. When they tried it on hamsters the lil things rolled up into a ball and held their breath until they asphyxiated, rather than breathe in the dreadful fumes that were filling their cage. Awww....

I guess it would be like drinking a pint of tar and having breath like you have just eaten the contents of a full ash tray. For one week, you probably wouldn't see that much difference, though the person's skin might start to sag a little, especially round the eyes and the edge of the lips. Their hair would probably start to look a bit limp and lifeless because of the 'coating' effects of the smoke. 140 doses of cigarette smoke would probably make your skin very pale and sallow, because it would restrict the flow of oxygen and blood around the body. 140 cigarettes is 7 packs of 20 at £5 each = £35 of disposable income you would otherwise have had in your pocket. Basically, it's better not to even start in the first place.

Smoking 280 cigarettes in 2 weeks, or 560 a month. That's 6720 a year, or 67, 200 over a period of 10 years. You might as well just shoot yourself in the head and save a lot of time and money.

That is a pack per day. If you smoked a pack a day for a year, that is referred to as a pack-year, medically, if you smoked two packs a day for a year, it would be two pack years. Gives the doctor some guide as to how likely you are to suffer the ill effects of long term smoking.

Now as for cost, last time I smoked they were roughly $3.25 a pack, I understand now it is closer to $5. Lets use the five dollars for the ease of calculation.

Thirty five dollars per week, times 52 weeks per year comes to 1820 dollars per year.

Equivalent to a good start on a college fund, I would say.

Strange question, but not as strange as the amount of people on here who don't seem to know what the word "equivalent" means.

Seven packets of twenty.

Say at £4.50 a pack this is £31.50 a week or £1658 per year.

My, that is a bl***dy good holiday

At my prices about £1825 a year. Or a couple of decent holidays. Which would you rather have?

Cigarette smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States and produces substantial health-related economic costs to society (1,2). This report presents the annual estimates of the disease impact of smoking in the United States during 1995--1999. CDC calculated national estimates of annual smoking-attributable mortality (SAM), years of potential life lost (YPLL), smoking-attributable medical expenditures (SAEs) for adults and infants, and productivity costs for adults. Results show that during 1995--1999, smoking caused approximately 440,000 premature deaths in the United States annually and approximately $157 billion in annual health-related economic losses.

A study in the July 2006 American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine showed that smokers with asthma who give up smoking can improve their lung function in as little as 1 week. The small study involved 21 smokers with asthma. Ten of them quit smoking for 10 weeks, while the others continued to smoke. After just a week, lung function test scores in those who stopped smoking improved considerably. In less than 2 months, lung function scores among those who stopped smoking improved by more than 15%.

Smoking has a negative affect on a man's sexuality and fertility. Heavy smoking is frequently cited as a contributory factor in impotence because it decreases the amount of blood flowing into the penis. One study noted that among men with high blood pressure, smoking caused a 26-fold increase in impotence.

Smoking impairs sperm motility, reduces sperm lifespan, and may cause genetic changes that can affect a man's offspring. One 2002 trial found that men or women who smoke have lower success rates with fertility treatments. An earlier study reported that men who smoke also have lower sex drives and less frequent sex.
