I'm not sure if I want to do research or work in a hospital, as I am with the government right now. I just want to make sure I am in a growing career field that is not going to be overly saturated, but is still in need or demand, not too unlike the nursing and doctor shortage in the health sector.

Unfortunately, the future of biomedical engineering is bleak. It's almost impossible to break into the field now. As soon as a position becomes available, another clone is released and another future biomed engineer is frustrated.

excellent field if you ask me. It is really hard to get into that field! If you really want to take it to the next level, get involved with biomedical engineering patent law. Help draft up product specifications for attorneys, etc..
