A friend of mine married his wife after asking her for her hand three dates into their relationship. At the time they were 19 - male and 17 female. 35 years later they are the only couple still together as everyone else has been married and either separated or divorced. So this proves that it can happen but stats would say that overall this is too young to marry and that this age group would be more likely to end in divorce than those who waited until in their 20's. I don't know if I can agree with these stats or not as it appears that we live in a very disposable society and men and woman of all ages are so ready to just throw in the towel as soon as things start to get difficult.

You don't have to regret waiting. Honestly, marriage isn't just pretty dresses and rings. It's a whole lifetime. I Started dating my current boyfriend when I was 16, and our relationship has changed SO MUCH in just two years, and it's changed so much in one year as well. When you're young, the years change you more than they will when you're older. You can still love him, but is there much of a difference between married and say, engaged? Hardly. Or even married and dating? I mean, my boyfriend and I could probably be very happy spending our lives together, but we'll live together for a while before we tie the knot officially, and it's pretty much no different than married life would be. Anyway, unless you live on an indian reservation or a religious separate sector of the country (like some places in Utah) you have to be 18 to get married, because you have to be 18 to be held accountable for contract. So wait until you're 18 and then run off to Vegas. That's the easiest way. I think you can even do it over the phone as well.

I got married one month and 19 days after my 18th birthday. That's a year older than you're asking about, but maybe it will help you. My first anniversary is in this month, and I am soooooooooo happy that I married this man!!! It depends on the maturity and the commitment of the people. It worked for me, but that may not be the case for everyone. Don't knock it because not everyone is the same, but don't rush into it lightly, either. Marraige is a VERY big decision, and it should be thought about a lot before doing. Make sure you're not going to change your mind later. This is a very serious matter. Don't rush in, but don't think it can't work. IT CAN!!!! I know this from 1st hand experience!!!

I guess it depends on the person. I was married at 17 and everything is great now (at 26) but it was a rocky road the whole way. I wanted to go out and be 18 or 21 and my responsibilities restricted that. It harbored a lot of resentment. I'm past it now, but it wasn't easy.

It all depends on those people. A marriage works because both people in that marriage work hard and give 150%.
Age and maturity help, but a 50 year old can be immature.

marriage at any age is a risk- nothing comes with guarantees. what you need to look at is the maturity of BOTH of the parties involved. once both are prepared to be faithful, work together for the best of both, etc. a marriage at any age will work. what you need to remember is that ppl change over time and when marrying young, you risk growing apart, wanting to experience new things and ppl, meeting new ppl and opening yourself to new opportunities.

17 is WAY to young! You haven't experienced all of life. Bars, Dating, Friends, Family and Traveling!

Give it 2 years or less and you'll find out. I does work sometimes, but you have a better chance of winning the lottery.
