So you've been good and worshipful - you're going to heaven.
And bloke over there has been bad and doesn't believe - he's going to hell.
But what about you, if you've been good and worshipful, but nicked a few quid every week out the church collection to clothe yourself. Are you still good enough to go to heaven? Or are there different levels of eternal bliss?
And will the bad disbelieving bloke go to the same hell as an evil paedophile? Or again, are there different heat settings according to your sins?
'Heaven or Hell' seems a bit of a simplistic choice after so many stringent rules went into the living part. Surely there must be SOMETHING inbetween, just for the normal people?

Arcane - "Dude, this is a question nobody can answer". Christians can answer - they seem to know. Albeit, completely different answers.

Megmom - nice answer, and it does sound as though it would work wonderfully on a four or five year old. Given this type of 'education' it's no wonder that religion wields great power.

Beam G - I agree with what you say, and I am fortunate to be living in a 'heavenly' state - but are you coming from a religious point of view or a realistic one?

Everyone is bad, so no one should go to Heaven. God won't let sin into Heaven. There's only one way to get to Heaven.

If you were a Christian and studied scripture.....(I thought maybe you were, that's why I read the question) I think there will be different degrees of H & H. The more you reject God. The more you push Him away when you are told. The lower in Hell you'll go....the good news is....you can avoid it.

Firstly, nobody knows who is going to heaven or hell. We just don't know, we must accept the decision that God makes on the day of Judgement.

There are 7 levels of heaven and (i think) seven levels of hell. The best of the best get to level seven of heaven (small numbers) and the worst of the worst get to level seven of hell (probably smallish numbers as well.) You can move around these levels, you can even be sent to hell and then eventually get in to heaven. Its all up to God and we can't say who will end up where and for how long.

Sorry to come into this discussion. You should know my views pretty well by now, but every time I read questions (and answers) like this, it just makes me think of Philip Pullman's "Dark Material" novels and I can't help but smiling! :)

When I did my apprenticeship, there 2 girls from Russia were working with me. Their type of Christian belief is pretty extreme. Women are here to become mothers, men to provide them, your whole life here on earth is just so that you can prove yourself worthy to go to heaven - and there are so many of them, who really sacrifice their lifes to live in this very strict way, which leaves very little flexibility to have fun or to look for self-fulfilment. For their sake I sometimes wish that there really is a god and heaven, because otherwise they have wasted their lifes for nothing!

There's Heaven and there's Hell. Good People nor Bad People don't go to Heaven. You go to Heaven if you have a) realized that God loves you b) that you a sinner and that you are separated from God because of this c)That the only way to restore connection with God is death, for the consequence of our sins is death... but Jesus paid that price. he died in our price. We need to repent of our sins, and accept God's gift of Christ. You can be a Good person, but if you don't accept Christ, you're going to hell. It's a horrible fact... but it's true

Heaven and hell are the same body. Heaven represent your intendence to and Hell is not your idea area. You looking for heaven is already sin. Whatever behavier and habit will lead you to go heaven, hell or else. You did what you are, nobody know, but you.

Luke 12:47,48 "That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."

To the Jews who had the benefit of Christ preaching to them in person, he said:

"But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you." Matthew 11:22

To Pilate he said:

"The one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin." John 19:11.

Romans 1:1 through 2:28 compares the Gentiles who were guilty of suppressing the natural knowledge of God and his law, and the Jews who disobeyed the revealed will of God. You may want to read this whole section. Paul concludes that both are guilty, but all will be judged by the standard of what they had.

God does not show favoritism. "All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law." Romans 2:11,12

Paul says clearly all are without excuse (Ro 1:20). All are guilty, but those who have greater knowledge have greater guilt. Scripture gives us this warning so that the knowledge we have does not become a curse to us rather than a blessing. This does not encourage anyone to have a casual attitude toward unbelief, for there are no good places in hell, only worse and worst.

heaven is also different levels and there are greater rewards for people, but the main thing is that you are saved by jesus by exepting him as your savior and you can be in heaven

Think of it as God, the cosmic consciousness, the source of life or whatever term you want to use as being at the centre. The further from that you are the more you are in "hell"-the nearer you are the nearer you are to "heaven". Potentially there are as many levels of heaven and hell as there are individual souls.

I first would want to know where is Heaven and Hell if not here on earth? Another planet? Another dimension? Another dimension on another planet ? Why is hell hot? Why not freezing cold? Dude, this is a question nobody can answer.

I think hell will be just. Perhaps Hitler will blow up every two minutes, and another will only have millions of cookies and no milk.

Heaven will be for all whom tried and accepted Jesus. You dont have to be perfect to get there, just try and Love. Thats not so bad.
