my son was born with a big birthmark on his back ( a port-wine [pinkish red in color] that is in the shape of a Z, covering his whole right shoulder blade). i am pregnant with my second son, who is due in about a month, and i was wondering, "what are the chances of my second son having a birthmark also". i do not have any birthmarks (that i know of) but my husband has some discoloration on his neck/chest...although you can barely see it, even if you are looking for it. i am not sure if that is a birthmark or not. anyways, thanks in advance for your answers.

I don't know.
I have a birthmark on my lower back that is kind of like a "rectangle", my daughter has the EXACT same birthmark in the EXACT same place!!
My mother in law also has one on her arm and her son has the exact same one on his same arm!
It's crazy, but I don't know if it's hereditary!

well i dont think in general they are. but i have a small brownish birthmark on my left leg in the shape of a butterfly, both my kids have similar birthmarks , same color, but smaller very close to the same place mine is. I have always felt they were somewhat inherited. congrats on the new baby.
