I thought it was "You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything" But I also saw this on a t-shirt "Everyone has to believe in something, so I believe I'll have another beer!" Words to live by. You're beautiful!

I guess if you don't have you mind made up about certain things then its a lot easier for people to persuade you into thinking what they want.
Example if you had choice to eat either grilled chicken or pizza and you didn't really care. There's a lot greater for someone to persuade you to eat the pizza than if you had already made a conscience decision to eat healthy and not to choose the pizza.
One very important note to you atheist that keep saying you don't beleive in anything. Actually you have a very strong belief in something, you have a strong belief in the fact you beleive there is no god.

Good statement, but out of context. The idea is in speaking of the more Pentecostal/Charismatic churches that will not take a stand on certain principles taught in Scripture. They say "we don't believe in rules", and so on. hence the 'warning' : "if you will not 'stand' for something, then you will 'fall' for anything". Just look at the scandals in the Charismatic churches all over the world. the most recent was Ted Haggard and His "New Life Church". They don't want too many rules to tie them down-well look what they fell for!. Very sad, but it fits.

I'm Muslim and this statement doesn't hold much for me..... Before i was a Muslim (2 years ago) i was of no religious denomination did not mean i was gullible enough to fall for anything. A strong mind will not fall for anything regardless of belonging to something or not...

I think it is just one of those sayings that has no facts to back it up. I know many people who do believe in something and still fall for anything.

It's bunk.
Atheists tend to be a bit on the skeptical side. They're less likely to be taken in by scams than most folk.
Consider cult members -- they believe in something, but it's not something worth believing in.

I have heard it said and I tend to agree with the statement. Goes along with the idea that "He's so broadminded that his brains fell out."
I've met some flaky people that refuse to believe what is common sense and accept countless ridiculous ideas without question.

So if you do believe in something, than you won't fall for anything?Thats a lie. For example(through a christian view since the majority of people in here are Christians),Adam and Eve believed in God but fell for the Devil's trickery!

This atheist weighs in and pronounces the quote to be a sad attempt at being clever.
Ti.ts and fluff man... I dont beleive in anything, and I havent fallen for any of it either... Correct logical quote would read :"If you beleive in anything, youve alreay fallen for it."

Platitude... everyone believes in something, even if it's only in the power of their inner selves and their ability to shape their world they way they see fit.
