Hepatitis A and B are both VACCINE-PREVENTABLE. In my opinion, everyone who is eligible should get vaccinated for these hep viruses.Tell your aunt to consider a vaccination.

Hep A is transmitted fecal-orally through contaminated food or water.

Hep B is bloodborne or sexually transmitted. But you can prevent it with a series of three shots.

Hep C is bloodborne, but can carry a tiny chance of sexual transmission. There is no vaccine for it, though. But it should still be safe for your uncle to have relations with his wife if he has Hep C.

It depends on the type of Hepatitis he has. I personally have type A and can tell you that it is not sexually transmittable. After the initial contagious stage it is only transmitted through blood. This, unfortunately, prevents me from being a donor. I believe but am not sure that type B is also only transmitted by blood. However, if he has type C that is definitely transmittable by semen and he should consult with his doctor as to what the best precautions are to prevent inflicting his wife. Although I am sure that there will always be at least some slight risk even with safe sex.
