Hi. I am looking for a great toy for my little one who will be 18 months old at Christmas.
She has hundreds of books (yes, hundreds!) of books and lots and lots of clothes, as these are the items which family and friends always buy her. I am very grateful to have the books and clothes for her. Since I have those items already, can anyone recommend a great toy for her for Christmas? She will be 18 months old at Christmas.

It's funny but most kids get the biggest kick out of the simpler toys. The kitchens, shopping carts are always great, a tea set, vacuum or broom set. My son will be 18 months at chistmas too. His biggest thing now is hauling a stool around the kitchen and "helping" while I cook and do dishes. Anything that mimics what she sees you do makes her feel grown up and important. Good luck

At 18 months my daughter loved doing simple puzzles. They sell those easy wooden puzzles with fruit shaoes or animal shapes or just basic shapes for about $5 for a 3 pack of quality made wooden puzzles. It's fun for them, doesn't cost much and teaches them something! Another toy my 18 month old nephew really likes to play with is this piggy ban k we have that you put coins in and it signs songs or counts, he sits and plays with it for a long time, longer than he spends on anything else! Christmas with an 18 month old is going to be fun for you, they are old enough to get excited about things but not old enough to really care about anything! Have fun with it!

My 14-month-old has a Mickey rider/walker that I got him for his birthday at Target. It is an airplane and makes airplanes sounds and plays music. It has a foam propeller that spins and lights up. It even has a shape sorter! My son loves it! And the best part is that it was only $30! My neice loves it when she comes over too (although she's a little big for it, lol).

P.S. It's for ages 1-3.

The Fisher-Price laugh and learning home has been a hit over at my house. My daughter got it for her first birthday and she still plays with it a year later. Lots of music, shape sorter, ringing doorbell, etc. Also the Radio-Flyer wagon is fun for them to hang out in as well as take trips around the block.

Bigger toys are great. They don't seem to get thrown into the toybox as quickly. The best toy I can think of off the top of my head would be a play kitchen. Those are probably the greatest toys for building an imagination. The fake food is adorable and she will have so much fun "cooking" for mommy, daddy, and maybe even a few stuffed animal friends :-)

Here are some that I would recommend, along with a few other toys you might consider:

How about a play structure like the Naturally Playful Kangaroo Climber???
My son loved climbing at that age.

back to basics has a catalog you might enjoy looking through for ideas. they have a block set that my daughter LOVES. she can make a tower of about 10 blocks and she's 17 months old. she also loves her stool because she carries it around the house to different rooms so she can look out whatever window she's interested in.
