I had a c-section 2 weeks ago..and my husband and I have not had sex for over a month. Could it really hurt me to go ahead and have sex?

Both of my son's were born via c-section. The recommended time to wait to have sex is 6 weeks, howeer i only waited about 3 weeks. And my doctor said that was perfectly fine.

Since you had a c-section, your vaginal area didnt go through the trama it would have if you had a vaginal birth. 6 weeks is the recommended time to wait to have sex, that way your vaginal area doesnt get hurt. But, since you had a c-section, then everything down there is pretty much the same. My doctor gave me the go ahead at 3 weeks, as long as i was okay with it. Just be careful not to put pressure on the insicion. When having sex, the penis doesnt go into the uterus or near where the c-section was performed, so even though you had a c-section, its okay to have sex.

Also, if you were in labor before you had the c-section, your cervix probably dilated a little. If this happened, sex is still okay, but your cervix may be a little sensitive during sex. This can last a few months after delivery, but nothing to worry about. A little spotting after sex is still normal for a few weeks.

Good luck and have fun!

I would wait... I had a c-section as well. I asked my doctor and she said that I should wait the 6 weeks. The doctor recommends the waiting period in order for your uterus to heal and that is affected whether you have your baby vaginally or by c-section...makes no difference. I would definitely wait!

two of my child births were c-section. i have to agree with cute-blonde. It can be harmfull if there is a alot of movement on your part. if it starts to hurt you then definetly stop and try other options. with my first c-section i only waited 4 weeks before intercourse and was afraid of pulling a stitch so i put a pillow over it that way he didn't rub against it and pull anything. i also didn't let him lay on me either. there are many positions that won't affect u. at two weeks after the c-section you probably don't have the staples anymore.they took mine out after a week. have fun and be carefull.

Yes, it could really hurt you and yes, you could really get pregnant, again. Surely, with a little imagination you can find some way to keep each other happy until you heal. I doubt your husband would enjoy taking care of the little one by himself until you heal. And if you do yourself any harm, your get to restart the recommended waiting period from the beginning

The approximate time would be between six to eight weeks depending on how well she recovers from the surgeries. However, she needs to speak with her doctor because there may be other circumstances where more time is needed. Since no one here knows the condition of the person you are referring to, the best answer to this question is going to come from her personal doctor. Good luck!
