You will want to phone the airline the day you're leaving or bring a minimum of items that you may have to throw in the trash. No one has advance warning that there will be new restrictions or revived restrictions regarding carry ons (carry on items). You can phone the day before and someone will say the ban is not in place but it could be in place the next day or even the hour you're checking in or going through security, or vice versa.
I should also mention if a passenger doesn't check a bag depending on the airline and the threat level the red flags can go up and you may be searched more thoroughly or searched twice or singled out. You might even have to catch a later flight. We get twitchy when someone travels without luggage....... maybe it means they're not planning on getting to the destination you know.
Have fun in Florida.

You can carry liquids like shampoo on US airlines as long as they are small enough to fit in a one quart ziploc bag. In other words, if you carry sample sizes, you're good to go. Have a great trip!

I think the band is lifted but I would call the airlines to make sure. I also thought the rule was for carry-ons you could pack it in your bag you check in or you could chose another route to travel like by amtrack and you want have to worry about it.

check www.tsa.gov for the exact list.
You can bring a quart sized zip-lock bag of liquids. Each of the liquids in it must be 3 oz or less. (No mostly empty bigger bottles, the container must be 3 oz) Things like mascara, liquid lip gloss are considered liquid so must be in the bag.

No. The last time I traveled (about a month and a half ago) all liquids--including stick deodorants were comfiscated. I have yet to hear if this has changed.

You can take liquids in your carry-ons that are 3oz. or less. They must fit in a one quart zip lock plastic bag that closes comfortably. Here's the US Transportation Security Administration's website with their list of permitted and prohibited items: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm
You can check our website for packing your cosmetics... http://www.mousetourstravels.com/security-alert-cosmetics-packing-guide.html
