try putting one of them in a pet carrier and letting them get to know eachother through the bars of the carrier first before throwing them together. Also you could try positive reenforcement with the dog pet the cat and have the dog near you so he can see you being positive with cat. Eventually try to pet them both at the same time. Treats and noise makers ( like clickers) are also a good way to encourage the cat to become at least tollerant of the dog. Good Luck!

My late bernese mountain dog wanted to eat cats and as it happened we had 3 cats. And no amount of training convinced him that cats were not snacks. So we played musical pets. the cats stayed in the master bedroom with attached bathroom and the dogs got the rest of the place. I have known of dogs that settle down and accept the cats but he never did.

Well, there's not much you can do except to make sure they don't kill each other. If the dog growls at the cat, squirt it with water or something, same for the cat if it picks on the dog. They don't have to like each other, but they don't need to fight either.

Ok .. my mom had to do this with her animals ... Get a Baby Gate ( or pet gate, you can buy them at most pet stores) , let them get to know each other through the gate, that way they can smell an paw at each other without hurting each other. In about a Month they will have learned to deal with each other. its hard but if ya really love your kitty & dog you will stick it out !

Separation time! Get the cat a house and let it live outside, it'll be fine as long as it gets fed and cared for.
