Any dog can be a digger if NOT properly trained early in life. Before you consider any dog, read and view videos on training...if you do not know what you are doing, you and your dog will be miserable. Huskys are great dogs, friendly, active as hell, have a LOT OF HAIR that falls out all over the place...you will need to groom it daily to keep the shed hair off the furniture, clothes, etc. IF you do not have time for this, consider another breed. Huskies need room to run and play. These are not good dogs for an apartment. Othere than shedding, there are no BAD things about any dog..there are only BAD owners who do not train the doggie to do what is expected. I do have reservations about some breeds of dogs because of past selective breeding (Pit Bulls, Rots), but again, that is BAD people, not bad dogs. Huskies are gentle, strong, loving animals. But be prepared for the hair...Spring and Fall, the hair falls out like rain! Good luck

Huskies are friendly and gentle but they are outgoing and have a lot of energy. They aren't possessive like the malamute or other guard dogs, but sometimes they can be a little reserve. They won't make a good city companion because they are a working breed so they do need a lot of excersize. Otherwise you will end up with a hyperactive dog. This is not just a trait of the Husky but of other dogs bred to work. Check out the source I have listed to learn a lot more. Also you can google Husky breeders and get a first-hand account of what they are like. Good luck!

Huskies are beautiful dogs but
they are very active and require lots of exercise. They need much more than a walk per day. This is a breed that was bred to pull a sled all day and sleep outisde at night.
They are escape artists t hey can go over under or through almost any type of fencing and they LIVE to run. They love it.
They also shed year round. Twice per year the "blow coat" and it comes out in clumps. If you hate hair this is not the breed for you.
THey care somewhat vocal and like to talk and sing to their owners.
They are great dogs but need a very activer owner who is willing to exercise them and that can be very hard on some people who just are not that active.
They can be very destructive if not exercise and they get frustrated easily.

I had a Husky/wolf mix and well I can say that he was a very good dog. They get excited easily, shed badly and well you do have to watch them around strangers if you choose to teach them to be guard dogs. Bear (my dog) tried ripping a policeman apart cause he was a stranger.

Huskys are a great breed if you live in cold climates, not so good in warm ones. They want to play all the time so if you don't have a lot of time for them I wouldn't plan on getting one.

I had one and he did dig in the yard and once we stopped him from doing that he would jump the fence! He would always come back home though and when he did get out he would go to the same place so I knew where to find him. But all in all he was gentle and loving he never snapped or barked at me...i miss him!

They can dig, as all dogs can. You just have to teach them not too. The major things I have noticed about mine have been that they can get aggressive toward other male dogs, they can be bullheaded, but they are extreamly smart.

My oldest, Joeseff, had to be fixed because of the fighting, but is so smart, he has figured out how to get out of every enclosure we have put him in.

Also, they have a very high drive for prey - you will need to watch out for any small animals, including pet cats and small puppies.

GREAT..... good companions, very athletic, but big time shedders. Check out the websites for Huskies.

An even better choice, look up CHINOOKs, a great family dog, wonderful companion. An a true American breed.
