I think so. At age 25 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, right after the birth of my first child. Since then I have been reading a lot of material on cancer. Of course, breast cancer is a hormonal type cancer so a lot of different changes in the body can effect it. I was reading an article about birth control as it relates to pre-menopausal breast cancer. The study showed that in women who took birth control significantly increased their risk of breast cancer by, I believe it was something like 44%. It is incredible. Doctors never tell you that risk before they put you on birth control. I took the pill for 2 years before I got pregnant, and if I knew then what type of risk I was putting myself in, I would never have done it!!!!

Cancer comes in many forms. The only way to avoid a particular cancer is to remove the cells that can turn cancerous. Since we need most of our organs that is not an option. Anyone can get breast cancer even after the breast is removed, as it is not limited to what fills a Bra. Mastectomy does reduce the chances of it, only because it reduces the available cells.
