My fiance and I had unprotected sex on Sunday the 5th and took the morning after pill at 10 that night, and then, on Monday, I took the second pill, but I took it at 10:30am. I started my "period" on the 7th, but it is very light, but on time. Is it my period or the morning after pill side effects?

I had VERY light bleeding for only 3 days, and light cramps.

It sounds like your regular period (which, incidentally means that you didn't need the morning after pill anyway--you and every other woman is infertile from 11 to 16 days prior to her period). If anyone posts here and says that you had an abortion, they are wrong--it sounds like it was absolutely impossible for you to have had one.

When my mother was studying biology in school, they were taught that life begins at conception (i.e. when the egg is fertilized with the sperm). This definition makes sense because the a) it can apply to other species such as chickens and b)the gender of a baby can be determined prior to the fertilized egg implanting in the uterus. After all, one can't just have a "male" lump of cells, right?
Starting with all of these new birth control methods, there has been a push (with some success I might add) to redefine the beginning of life to implantation in the uterus (which happens after fertilization). This is a convenient re-defintion for pharmecuetical companies, retailers and other entities which benefit from the sale of these "medicines" because they no longer need to say that their product can cause an early abortion--these products (they say) will only expel an UNIMPLANTED fertilized egg (embryo as they are called even when not yet implanted), not an implanted one.

I have no idea if this matters to you or not, but I'm telling you this because I wish I had known this sooner than I did. Although most websites that talk about this may be pro-life, the birth control itself comes with a regular typed insert (check yours if you like) which talks about how it can work like that. Also, this information is available in any physician's desk reference. If you are interested in more information about this via the internet, here is a helpful website: http://www.onemoresoul.com/pamphlet126.How-the-Pill-and-Other-Contraceptives-Work.html

it can be both .i know that the side effects of plan b can be heavy to light menstrual flow that can last for days on end so watch it carefully. by taking the hormones your period my not became regular any more unless you get on birth control pills because of the high concentration of hormones in such a short time span some girls also get very sick to their stomachs and vomit for a few days. good luck

if it matches your period cycle, the you are fine. I have taken the pill before and my first period after the pill was light-normal.

FYI-if anyone on this site says you committed abortion, don't believe them becuase YOU DIDN"T

You are okay. It must be your period if it coincides with your dates. You are baby free, and hopefully you've taken some other birth control methods by now to ensure that you stay that way until you are ready!
