Why did they try to hide soo much? How many other screw-ups do they hide? If it wasn't a high profile person would we have ever known anything?

His death is a media football being used to further embarrass the Bush administration. Sadly, Tilman's friendly fire death is not uncommon especially when involving troops seeing action for the first time. So now to appease the media clamoring for blood, the young men involved are going to be lynched for a tragic but understandable error.
General Stonewall Jackson was mortally wounded by friendly troops. Guess what? There was no investigation, no accusations of cover up.

It appears that Pat Tillman died from friendly fire, that is if there is such a thing. It also appears that the soldiers who fired at Tillman did not follow rules of engagement.

It's hard to know why Tillman and not others, perhaps it's because of his celebrity status.

There is some suggestion that this shooting may have been deliberate, I would hope this isn't true. That alone would prompt the army to investigate this shooting!

Because nothing is really being 'hid.' Screw-ups happen in war. People do the wrong things for the right reasons (or think they are doing the 'right thing').

The really sad thing is that the whole thing has been turned into a media and political circus when everyone should have shut up.
