I am starting a software company, and going to release this as a first product, and was wondering what I should charge to people? $9.95? $19.95? $49.95?

Depending on what you are using it for. There is some awesome software out there that will cross reference anything in the bible, giving you multiple verses (or whatever you want) for any subject you want to know about or teach on. Also many give meanings of origanal language (greek, hebrew, etc.) I've seen them go for 8 and 900$. You could get a more basic program for less than a hundred.
Again, what do you want it for? Many people here (that responded already) wouldn't even understand why you would read the paper one regularly. The software versions are very handy, especially if you intend on teaching at any level.

I'd go out and research what is good, and what it goes for ($). Then, go on some discount websites and see what kind of deal you can get (ebay, craigs list, cbd.com, etc.)

There is so much on the web I think it would be a futile business venture. With biblegateway.com I don't know what more you could do that would justify expense.

It doesn't look as if there is much interest in it as most of the answers are from the "less religious" people on here. Even the helpful answer (you only beat me by 18 seconds, Phoenix) is by someone that is not applying for residence at the monastery any time soon.

Free. I have the Evening Dew system. Totally free.

I appreciate them for it.

However from my ownstand point as a software designer, I'd say $49.95. Considering you'll only make a few sales get as much as you can because if you bought your programming tools legally they cost you a pretty penny, as does your web site.

Matthew 10:8b: "YOU received free, give free"

Revelation 22:17: "And the spirit and the bride keep on saying: “Come!” And let anyone hearing say: “Come!” And let anyone thirsting come; let anyone that wishes take life’s water free."

Those who are making a profit from the Word of God may need to make sure of what is acceptable to God. Remember the money changers that made Jesus so mad?

John 2:16-17: " And he said to those selling the doves: “Take these things away from here! Stop making the house of my Father a house of merchandise!” 17 His disciples called to mind that it is written: “The zeal for your house will eat me up.”

Do you mean it's just the Bible? That's already free on the internet.

cease offering sanitized verse of the day sections. you be conscious of, print the nasty stuff. i do no longer ever remember something from The music of Solomon being a Bible verse of the day. i be conscious of i could say "Wow!" if that befell.

It should be free.

No one should be profitting from someone else's faith.
It's unethical to say the least.

Sorry "I want to know", but free. Check out the "Freely you received, freely give." policy of the writer of E-Sword ( http://www.e-sword.net/ ).
