Many times my husband and I see dogs right close to the interstate. Is it possible that they live near by or have they been abandoned?. Sesible answers only please.

When I ask do they live there I mean in a house near the interstate. Where we live there is a lot of woodland at both sides of the interstate and there are houses there. I just mean that maybe they have got out .

Alot of people (unfortunately) who don't want their pets anymore let them out on the interstate to get hit by a car I guess. We had two pit bulls found on the interstate that had collars on with the address of the owner. The person who found them thought they got loose and took them to the owner and she freaked out and was furious that someone brought them back. They were two of the nicest dogs we had at the clinic I worked at. I used to drive through Newark, NJ everyweek and used to see alot of dogs hit by cars on the side of the road. It's horrific really.

Abandoned.

People put animals out on the interstate all the time.

Common sense. Think about it.

In reality strays and wild dogs are abandoned also. They would not be there if people would take care of their pets and spay and neuter.

When I travel along I95 in North Carolina, I have seen too many dead dogs by the side of the road. I have seen some dumped out of cars and pickups alive, only to fend for themselves. I have even hit one in the fog. I would say most have been abandoned.

Yes.They probably live there,,as strays.2sad but true.Try to help them if you can without scaring them into the traffic.Try to find them homes because most animal shelters murder.Try calling a rescue animal organization that does not kill. You can even bring them food if you care to.I can only hope that people can be made aware of the animal abuse that exists. That is the only way for a solution.
Yes,,if they have tags,,they can easily be identified & returned to their owners.PLEASE HELP THEM.We are made to see this for a reason,,you sound like a person who cares.THANK YOU for bringing this to the public's attention.

Can you tell if they're wearing collars or tags? If so, they could live there or they could be lost. You might want to check it out.
