I am doing a research project in school and would love you opinions. Do you feel uniforms are needed? Do they effect student behavior? How do you feel about uniforms?

Depends somewhat on the uniform.
Uniforms can hinder kids from misbehaving, as people external to the school can identify students by the uniform, and they can make the individual feel a part of something bigger.
However, when I was at school there was a Catholic girls school down the road, whose uniform looked like a deck-chair, making it difficult to feel a sense of pride, whilst looking silly.

My high school made a dress code my senior year saying everybody had to where a uniform; it didn't really bother me that much. But many other people in my school it did, I remember on the first year of this new dress code some people had wrote graffiti all over the outside school walls and some people tried to protest; it was a disaster; but after a month about a quarter of the students had dropped out of school because they had refused to where it. But after that nobody cared about the dress code any more they just went on with there lives as it was no big deal. My school first created the dress code so people can stop making fun of how other kids dressed like and to see if punishing us would help reduce the number of bomb threats we had each year from 5 to 0 which it sort of helped because we only had one bomb threat that year. But with the making fun of thing, it didn't really change, people still made fun of each other and yes there still were some fights, But over all I did think the uniforms did help for a few things, but I don't schools need them because kids are still going to act how they would normally do no matter what clothes they are wearing.

I think it's a good idea, I went to a public school for 1st through 7th grade and children can be really judgemental and mean to those that aren't wearing the latest fashions. Take it from me if we had uniforms in the school I went to things would be a whole lot easier for me and the other students who's parents couldn't afford anymore than Wal-mart, goodwill, and consignments.

its been a while since i have been in school but when i was i wrote a debate speech explaining the down falls of putting kids in uniforms. take this for an example: an adult is always telling a kid to be unique, right? be there own person, right? well how are they suppose to do that when they are all dressed alike . there's more to a person by how they act, there's also how they present their self to society now days. the way a person dresses is a form of communication. its a way of expressing the way you truely feel. take your stlye away is like taking part of your personality away.

When I was enrolled in parochial school, it was explained to me that uniforms made us all equal. If we wanted to be different, the only way was to excell at our studies. Well, what did we know at that stage of our lives? But, EVERYONE started out believing that we were the same as everyone else. It made it much easier to make freinds because we had nothing to prove!

Uniforms are needed here in Los Angeles. Without them, kids wear gang-inspired apparel, which makes them act more like little hoodlums.

i used to live in honduras, and the schools have to use uniforms, is not bad, it has its good part and bad, the good ones are that the students wont be jdge because of their clothing, and in case there is an extranger in school you can recognize him or her, some bad things is that you have to take good care of the uniforms, like iron wash almost everyday,i hope this helped you.

Bringing back school uniforms might just help curb school violence and gangs. I feel if you brought back school uniforms, you would see less jealosy between students,
less animosity, a drop in high school pregnancy. the more you think of it, the more it makes sense...
