In his remarks yesterday he said he is meeting with the Democratic Leadership in Congress for fresh ideas on Iraq.
That's good that he is open to new ideas but executing the war is his job. The Congress's job is oversight to be sure he is doing his job honestly, legally, and competently.
I suspect the administration will be blaming the Democrats for mismanaging the war in Iraq before 2008.

I'm saying - that Bush is saying - that he is out of ideas and he is trying to blame mismanagement of the war on someone else.
There is no winning strategy for Iraq. It is a matter of getting out withou loosing more than we have to.

The President of the United States remains the Commander-in-Chief so long as he holds the office of the president.

He was trying ot be nice to the new Democrats. We all know that the Democrats have never had any type of plan for Iraq yet they just had to try and take over. Unless they step up their game and come up with a plan we are all screwed. No, President Bush is not abdicating anything.
After reading this and a few other questions you have asked I have come to the conclusion that you are an idiot.

So, you're saying that the Democrats are fresh out of ideas? We already knew that! LOL!
All fun aside, Bush is just looking to see if the Dems can step up to the plate. They've fought him at every step of the way, and he's setting them up to be hoisted on their own petard. If they have no ideas beyond "We hate Bush", that will expose their paucity of ideas, won't it?
They've all been critics, but they've offered nothing beyond, "Run away!"
Simply being 'not Bush' is not much of a mandate for governing.
-----------
Bush hasn't abdicated responsibility. But considering the Democrats' main campaign platform was their criticism of the efforts in Iraq, Bush is putting them on the spot to actually have a single idea beyond their rhetoric.
Nobody's going to say a failure in Iraq was strictly the Dems' fault - though they have played the part of terrorist apologists for far too long.
It won't be long before they're exposed as having nothing better to say than "we hate Bush" and "run away!"

He said he was "open to new ideas on Iraq". That's not the first time he's ever said that. Powell said the administration was open to new ideas in 2004. Bush said he was open to new ideas from the UN in 2005. The only thing he has rejected adamantly is "time tables". So, while an interesting story, this dog doesn't hunt much (to use a Bushism). This whole transition is going to be interesting to watch.

Sounds to me like he realizes that The People want a change in Iraq and is asking for new ideas.
Bush strikes me as the kind of man who does what he thinks is best for America. This doesn't seem to be out of character for him.
Just a hunch...

Bush is just calling their bluff.
We will see in the coming months if the Dems really do have an adequate plan for Iraq.

he is down but not out. bush doesn't do much without his think tank. and they aren't going to abdicate power to pelosi without a fight. she is more than used to the fight though. people that think san francisco is liberal have never been there. its a city of extremes.
