My daughter is 2 and is in desperate need of a haircut. She has had 4 already and she's pretty good when getting them. The problem I have is paying a hairdresser the $5 plus tip for 30 seconds of work. Now would I be crazy to attempt to cut her bangs and bangs only on my own. And if not any tips on how to do this.

My son had hair past his shoulders. I cut his hair because his father messed it up to the point of him having bald spots. I put his hair in small braids, then cut, then evened everything out with scissors.

I trim my own hair, so it was not difficult for me to do. I say go for trimming your daughter's hair on your own. She is young enough now, that she can learn to get used to it, and you will get better at it as time goes along. It will save you money, and add another activity that the two of you can do together.

When she is older and has more hair (that will take longer than 30 seconds to cut), then I'd say begin taking her to a hairdreser.

I have a 3 yr old and I cut his hair right after he gets out of the bath. Results are not good if hair is dry. Cut only a little at a time so you don't take too much off. Especially if her hair is curly. When you cut her bangs comb them together and twist once and cut while holding them with two fingers.

I say take her in... Any time i have cut my son's hair i have always messed it up... and bangs are harder then you think. Plus, i know that my 2 year old squirms like crazy when i attempt.. but when a hair dresser does he sits there like a good little boy. If your daughter is anything like my 2 year old I'd take her in for the haircut.

Bangs are easy to cut and I definitely wouldn't pay someone to do something I can easily do myself. Just brush them out and make sure they're all out and not sticking up or pulled back. Then, do what they do at the hairdresser's and put some between your fingers and trim them. Go all the way across and make sure they're even.
