Do you think they will "swamp" the country and take over ?

2006-11-09 05:40:45 · 20 answers · asked by Latin Techie 7 in Politics & Government Immigration

"Jake" and the rest, my thought processes work just fine !

Just so that people understand my "drift" the word I used is IMMIGRANTS, that means legal or illegal, an undocumented person from overseas is still an IMMIGRANT the "ILLEGAL" part just goes in front! There are Legal Immigrants entering the U.K right now from other EU member countries and that is causing untold concern, so I asked the question, what are the fears!

I have no fear of immigrants.. anybody who goes through the proper ways of getting here are welcomed by me and most Americans... it's the illegal immigrants that I have a problem with.. no I have no fear of them.. but I want people in my country for the safety of my country documented and known to be in this country... it's a violation of our law to come here illegally and our laws need to be upheld.

My deepest fear is that this country (UK) will go into a racist spasm where not only my friends but I myself (White English) might feel forced to leave. Having seen up close the life of asylum-seekers, I wouldn't want to have claim asylum if some racist government came to power.

On the other hand, I'm optimistic, I'm pretty confident the people of this country are on average a lot more sensible and welcoming than the average poster about immigration on yahoo answers, and we'll sort things out in the end.

That they will continue to overcrowd our schools and force school programs our own children use to close in order to fund ESL programs. That they will close emergency rooms and pediatric wards by showing up unable to pay so often that these facilities close. That they will continue to come unscreened so that 4% of the population provides 30% of the prison population nation wide, and feeds gangs and social unrest.

It is happening all over California, and spreading inward. This isn't a joke or a lunatic theory, it is a fact.

This is only illegal immigrants I am discussing.

For example our LEGAL, SCREENED immigrants have less propensity to crime than our native citizens. The illegals, by definition, are the ones more willing to 'bend the rules.'

I have no problems regarding legal immigrants. My only concern is with illegal aliens. I do not fear any kind of take-over, but I question the integrity of any who say they wish to be a part of this nation, when their mere presence is a violation of the law that they are trying to become part of.

I don't fear immigrants, I just expect people who want to come to my country to have respect for our laws and our customs. What is so "racist" about that? I have all the respect in the world for LEGAL immigrants....but why reward people who break our laws? If I moved to Mexico or France or any foreign country, I would do it legally and I would learn the language instead of expecting them to cater to me. No one forces anyone to come here, so why come if you have no intention of assimilating into American culture?

I will say that I resent the hell out of feeling forced to learn Spanish. I DO believe that everyone should study a foreign language, but I chose the wrong one. I grew up in Alaska, so the logical languages for me to study were Russian, which wasn't offered in high school, or French, which I had started to study as a child. I took several years of French, then moved to southern California. I couldn't even work for the cable company or for most banks because I didn't speak Spanish. You should never feel like education is a waste of time, but I definitely feel that way about all the time I spent studying French. It never occurred to me that I wouldn't be able to find a job in my own country for not knowing a particular foreign language.

As to them taking over, isn't that the agenda of some of the radical immigration groups? That could certainly lead some people to worry about it.

Are you talking about immigrants or illegal immigrants ? before asking please think over what you are asking. If you are asking about illegal immigrants, yes I do think that they want to take over, they have said so many times, something thing about taking the American southwest back, but as I recall they lost that war, more like got there butts kicked.

I think that being afraid of immigrants is to be afraid of the world. There are no modern countries that have no immigration. The world is one, and it´s there for us to share.

I have no fear of immigrants. Those who legally decide to relocate to the greatest nation in the world, and want to better their life, welcome. I have a challenge with illegal immigration. It is a violation of US law, and those who violate it should be held accountable. Those who employ or harbor ILLEGAL immigrants as well. As for the rest who have gone through the complicated process and achieved success, please feel welcome.

I'm afraid they will bring violence and more crime. A few months ago in Houston an illegal immigrant killed a police officer.
