As a Christian I feel that derogatory comments to anyone are totally offensive. It is not for us Christians to judge and unfortunately here on Y!A there are some who pose as Christians, so for that matter I wouldn't be totally 100% believing all you hear from really are. It is for us to love the sinner and hate the sin, i.e., pray for everyone. We are all only human, and we all fall short ~ Christian, atheists, agnostics, Muslims, it doesn't matter, we all do. My prayers will continue to happen. Prayers =)

I beg to dis agree with the generalise tone of the question. Not all Christians do the same thing. After all Christians are humans too. They are fallible beings like you and me. Further, human as they are, they have biases and prejudices about anything including the idea of atheism or of other types of religion. Maybe the Christian that made such remark was at the time he or made such thing forgot that he or she is a Christian and that he or she must treat all humans with respect Christians or not as Christ did when He was still here on earth. I as a Christian do apologize in behalf of that Christian who has done such thing and to whoever might have been hurt by such rude remarks.

I thought it was the other way around.

What is it with the non-christians making remarks anyway?

Why the need for remarks in the first place?

Maybe the ones that do are just tired of the anti-christian remarks.

They are not needed whatsoever.

It's called evangelism!

Did you never see that Burt Lancaster movie!

It's ALL about pointing a finger at YOU and telling you about hell's fire and how you will end up in it if you don't repent and change your evils ways!

I don't necessarily believe it in or agree with it, but about 40% of the Christains sects in the US are Evangelstic to a degree.

We're just using to seeing tamer ones like Billy Graham.

Look at Pat Robertson, not only is being gay a sin, but any nation that condoes it or allows it is a sinful nation!

Who he talking about? Iraq? Iran? Italy? Three guesses!

People react emotionally, sometimes we sputter because we maybe cannot find the right words at the time.

However, I think you are wrong, I've seen so many derogatory remarks, slurs and foul language from all those you have mentioned.

oh, nitpicking. Well, hon, I've seen a few atheists do the same to Christians. HOw many times have I seen a christian post something (sometimes as simple as, "Please pray for my friend or for me" and get back hateful statements like, "Don't pray to your imaginary god" "How stupid are you to believe that kind of fairy tale" and "Pray to a bar of soap, you'll get the same results". For every bad answer you've seen by a Christian, I've seen one posted by an atheist.

Please...it works both ways. The intolerance from all people coming from their own religious opinions is sickening. I used to go on the R&S section quite a bit but seeing the intolerance from almost everyone depressed me too much.

for the record, calling people fools, idiots and stupid is NOT the Christian way. Please keep in mind that everyone who professes to be saved and a Christian is not.

Also, there is name calling everywhere. :)

well you only have to read the answers you get to this question to see who is doing this more often, and anyone who posts vulgar remarks or comments should be ashamed of themselves and seriously needs anger management courses.

I guess the "Christians" who do these things just didn't answer your question...
But you do seem to have gotten plenty of answers from non-Christians bashing Christians....

Hmmmmmm.....
