According to my mom when I was a kid, it was running with scissors. But I suspect cataracts are more likely.

Cataracts are the most common way of going blind. Generally what happens is a slight build up of tissue starts to cover the eyeball and then vision is decreased.

Most common would be adult onset diabetes (by the way of cataract) or cerebrovascular incidents (strokes). Here in Russian Fed. alcohol poisoning is also a significant cause.

It has to be the goal of many family members of blind people. You know kind of like to keep it in the family.

There are services in the library that are offered to the blind when a sighted person goes in and reads to them.

I believe you could "go blind" by hanging out with that crowd. Then ya could get a bumper sticker for your car:

Blind? Who needs to see....when ya feel like dat!

..............think about it...........
