DVDs are not copy protected. They are DRMd. I.E. you can read the contents and write them to a new DVD. However the contents are encrypted, so you need the decryption algorithm and decryption key to be able to decrypt the contents and display the video. This is CSS (Content Scrambling System). CSS was defined by incompetent idiots. Firstly it was crypographically weak and got broken quickly, secondly it was a DRM scheme, meaning the equipment you buy to read the discs (DVD players) need to have the keys installed. It is a simple reverse engineering exercise to get the keys. If Nero won't copy it, it's because nero refuses to do so. Install Linux and use the copying tools that are not crippled.

officially you can't as it's copyright protected to stop you from making illegal copies.
unofficially you need software that can 'crack' the protection and let you make copies. finding one however is the hard thing. i have one but it is no longer available. it got closed down after a lawsuit from the big film companies threatening to sue them.
i got my copy by asking any computer buffs at work and they gave me the software.
sorry i can't be more helpful.
