Well since we are talking about a talent show you need something between 3 and 5 minutes. There are a couple of options here.
You could go and get a book of monologues from a book store or go through a few play scripts and find a speech that you like. Shakespeare is good for this also look into the spoon river anthology. You could also try to recreate moment from movie or television shows.

You could also do a scene meant fro two people. If the scene is good enough and you can make enough changes in your body language, voice and demeanor fast enough and consistently enough you could play both parts, if you step from side to side as you are changing from one character to another the audience will be able to follow what is going on (Warning: This is harder to do convincingly than it initially sounds. )

I hope this helps

It all depends on what you are willing to do...In high school some did a skit once that involved a blender with various types of foods...he would put, say some raw fish, chocolate syrup, cucumber, raw egg and ketchup in the blender and then get someone in the audience to drink it...for a small prize...quite entertaining!!

I have used the closing scene from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." It is a monologue by the impish fairy: Puck. If you are feeling creative and need something longer, you could design a one person skit that would precede and set-up said monologue.

Have a look at the solo skits that Rowan Atkinson has done, he's brilliant and very funny. I would suggest his "welcome to hell" skit where the devil provides a little orientation for the new arrivals.

A search for "Rowan Atkinson" on youtube should get some videos of his skits.

Good luck and don't forget to have fun!

This is actually a Monologue. [A helpless teenager crying out for her mother's help.]

: 'Mom, I need you. I know I was wrong, I know I was a horrible child but now, now you have to help me. Mom, I need you. My baby needs you. I can't help myself mom....please just listen to me. Please just be there for me!'
