John B,

Other religions are not a spin off of Chrstianity. Jesus was a Jew. He was not a Christian and he did not coin the term Christianity nor did he start the religion of Christianity. Judaisim existed thousands of years before Christianity and Christianity did not become a religion until a few hundred years after Jesus' death.

As far as the Abramic faiths go, the order is Judasim, Christianity, then Islam.

Hinduism is the oldest religion in the world. It predates Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

As far as other religions being money makers, have you ever been to other places of worship? I have been to churches, mosques, synagogues, hindu temples and so on and I have not see any one faith ask for money than the church.

Pastors and ministers live large off the money given to the church by paritioners. Look at the mega-churches like that of Creflo Dollar, Eddie Long, T.D. Jakes and these other TV pastors with large congregations. You mean to tell me that these mega-chuch pastors are not profiting? And what about this new so-called prosperity preaching so prevalent in new-age Christian thought today?

In mosques for example, the imam (or pastor) of the mosque cannot be paid out of the charity collected. The charity collected in the mosques is strictly to go to people in need and to pay for the mosque upkeep, not pay pastor salaries. It is the same in the Hindu temple I also visit. The people that run the Hindu temple I go to do not get paid to do it. The money goes to upkeep the temple and to feed people for free.

But to answer the original poster, I don't think anyone religion is better than the other, per se. They all teach the same things, just worded differently and some are a bit more austere than others.

Acts 17:11 says, "Now these were more noble… for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the scriptures daily, to see whether these things were so."

Those who are “more noble” receive the word, are eager to receive the word, and they regularly compare the things taught to the scriptures, only accepting that which they find to be true (scriptural).

The conclusion has to be that the better (true) doctrine is the one that most closely matches the scriptures.

So, the better religion is made up of noble people who teach a doctrine that is proven by matching to the standard which is the word of God.

If religion is based on feelings, or opinions, it is very subjective. Feelings are subject to change.

Religion should be based on a firm foundation. It should be based on God's word.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings..." (Hebrews 13:8-9)

I don't think any religion is better than another.

I also think that if a person in a religion states they are the one true religion or that they are better, they aren't very religious at all.

I'm an atheist, but I also respect people's right to believe. What I don't respect is when people have a complete lack of tolerance and understanding for those that are different or believe differently than themselves. I believe that those people were raised by hatred and animosity, not by religion.

In my opinion there is only one true religion and that is Christianity because it all started with Jesus, all others are just spin offs that have become nothing more than money making religions.

If they are teaching one way to heaven. The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, He was buried and took our sins away and He rose again the third day for our justification. 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15: 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Salvation is a free gift, it is by faith and not of works. Ephesians 2: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. If they are not teaching the gospel of the grace of God then they have the curse of God on them. Galatians 1: 9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

The amount of fear they install in their followers, which is directly connected to in how many ways they wish to control the actions of their followers.

High scores mean bad religions.

It is the people in the religion who make it what it is. I think any person who worships GOD and trys to be the person GOD would want him/her to be, are better for it.
