Au contraire Frye Daddy. I know of few atheists who became atheists because christians were chucking their toys at one another. Atheists pretty much become atheists because of what christianity itself teaches - NOT because of christians. Either thru studying the bible and seeing the holes, or not being able to get it to jibe with reality and science, or because it's immoral (hell concept, etc)
Them being horrible with each other is a whole nother enchelida

There are offshoots of Christianity that are false religions. These cults like to associate themselves with the Christian religion, but are far from it. The JW's and mormons you mentioned are in this cult category. They say they are Christian, but their beliefs say otherwise. The Deity of Christ, the Trinity is a very basic belief that every Christian holds. These groups do not believe Jesus was God, hence, they are cults and do not have the testimony of the Holy Spirit.
People can call themselves Christian or whatever. Them calling themselves that does not make it so. That is the point. A true believer has the Holy Spirit, which God sends...that is when a person is saved and assured of heaven.
No Christian can turn someone into an atheist just as no Christian can convert someone to Christianity. I mean what are they going to say at the judgment: "John, made me mad, so now I don't believe?" That cop out won't work. It is an individual choice on whether to believe or not. The responsibility rests on their shoulders to make that choice. They will earn their place in hell by not listening to God's Word.

When I grew up I learned that being a christian was something that was expected. I tried and tried but christianity is not for me. It gives my soul the willies. I will never delve back into christianity and that in and of itself has nothing to do with how christians behave. Having said that, the way that some of them behave from saying either believe what i believe or you will go to hell kind of stuff...to when I was working as a cab driver I saw 'christan' people in places and doing things that doesn't follow in line with what they believe. All of that behaviour just leaves a worse taste in my mouth for the whole thing,
As for me, I lean towards buddhism...have tried several other paths...and no path. For right now I can say that I have no idea why we are here(we really seem to be nothing more than parasites infecting our planet), and I don't know what will happen when I die. I don't know if I'll ever figure that out...I don't know if we are really meant to know or understand.

This is true. There are Christians who are putting the cult label on the members themselves when they should be putting the label on their leaders. As an active member of an anti-cult ministry, I myself have learned that "cult" labels should be put on the leaders, not the innocent members involved. I understand your point..a Christian telling another Christian they are in a cult is not very Christian at all. If a Christian is aware that an innocent individual is mixed up with a cult, there are proper steps to take to help save them.

"If that could really work the why couldn't the Son of Sam get off the hook when he said my neighbors Dog made me do it?"
Now you're not making any sense. The Son of Sam is mentally ill and can not rationalize between right and wrong.
People do not get turned off by religion because of how religious people behave. They do it because they can not possibly believe in what all religions stands for. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that decision. As long as people live life honest, humble, respectful, loving, and an openminded way then they are good people to me.

You should really do your homework before you speak. Mormon's whole religion is based on a Lie!! It is a Cult as well as Jehova Witnesses. I am sorry you are ignorant of these things. Do some research before you go ahead and say that Mormons are Chrsitian's. Far Far very far from it. You are sadly unaware of what you think you know. Christianity is not a religion based on rules and bylaws and rituauls, it is a relationship with the savior. Its not a religion it is a relationship. You started off your paragraph saying you was confused my dear was, was wrong you "is" and still are CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The most effective way to speak about the issues of eternity to a religious person is not to get sidetracked from the essentials of salvation. Upon hearing a person’s background, we may feel an obligation to speak to issues such as infant baptism, transubstantiation, etc. However, it is wise rather to build on the points of agreement between the Bible and the person’s denomination, such as the virgin birth, the cross, and so on. One point of agreement will almost certainly be the Ten Commandments. They are the key to bringing any religious person to a saving knowledge of the gospel.
After someone is converted to Jesus Christ, the Bible will come alive and he will be led into all truth by the indwelling Holy Spirit. God’s Word will then give him light, and he will forsake religious tradition as he is led by God. While there are strong biblical arguments that may convince unregenerate people that their church’s traditions contradict Holy Scripture, there is a difficulty. Some religious people hold the teachings of their church to be on a par with, or of greater authority than, Holy Scripture. It is therefore often futile to try to convince them intellectually that their trust should be in the person of Jesus Christ, rather than in their own righteousness or in their church traditions. Take them through the Law of God (the Commandments) to show that they are condemned despite their works, and strongly emphasize that we are saved by grace, and grace alone, rather than by trusting in our own righteousness or religious traditions.
If they are open to the gospel, and are interested in what God’s Word says in reference to their church’s teachings, they will listen to Scripture. For example, in Matthew 8:14 we see that Peter (whom the Roman Catholic church maintains was the first pope) was married, as were many of the other apostles (see 1 Corinthians 9:5).

No, I don't think so. Is it beyond your capabilities to read and do research? No, I didn't think so. I would never presume to know if someone was a "true" Christian. Some religious faiths ARE cults because they contradict what the HOLY BIBLE says.

Gotta say, other than the obvious gaps and inconsistencies within the scripture, it was the Christians who made me leave, after they proved they had no good answers to my questions. I know quite a few Christians who I respect, but I've always wondered how they can stand the others. I guess they have a lot of tolerance.
