First of all, don't go for just bass, there's nothing worse than a car with nothing but bass and you can't even hear the word. Go for a complete system, the results (both sound quality and SPL) will be worth it.

The components of a "banging" car sound system would be as follows: The source (cd player, in-dash dvd/nav system, radio, tape player, etc.), the speakers, the subs, the amps, the parts/wiring. Also, depending on how big of a system, possibly a new battery or two and an alternator. Here are some of my recommendations as far as good brands.

Deck: Eclipse, Pioneer (regular or premier), Alpine, Kenwood Excelon, Nakamichi (not the greatest looking, but great sound).

Speakers: Polk Audio, Infinity, Eclipse, Pioneer Rev High end: Focal, Boston, MB Quart, Nakamichi

Subs: JL Audio, MTX, Kicker, Eclipse, Audiobahn, Memphis, Hifonics, Diamond Audio, Fosgate (p3 and higher)

Amps: all the sub companies, plus, Precision Power, Crossfire, Cadence, Soundstream

Parts/Wiring: Monster, Tsunami, Streetwires, even Kicker and Fosgate make decent parts/wiring.

Use a sound deadening material as well. (Dynamat, Silencer, etc)

But in the end these are just my recommendations (based on quality and sound), like Sparky said only you can judge what you like. Everyone's ears are a little different so what sounds good to me may not sound good to you. Shop around at all the car audio dealers and take a listen, but make sure you take one of your cds with you so you can judge all of them with the same song (one that you are familiar with).

Hope this helps.

It relies upon on your device and your flavor. once you've a 4-channel amp it really is efficacious sufficient, you may want to apply subs for the rear audio device fairly of the time-honored smaller finished-decision audio device. i in my opinion does not use enormous helpful boy-racer kind subs, if i needed to augment the bass i might want to easily get a pair a very good high quality smaller subs, say 6 or 8 inch to apply contained in the decrease back. yet many people opt to apply a powered sub which will favor potential cables, to boot as an audio cable out of your pre-amp. the ingredient about enormous subs is they take in a good number of boot area, and they could damage your listening to, some people purchase 1000 watt amps it really is stupid for a automobile, with respectable audio device 20 watts in step with channel is rather sufficient to blow your head off.

The first thing you do is go to Radio Shack or your local electronics store. Take a look at what you want, what name brand, get them to explain it better. Then what you do is put your ear to the streets and see if someone selling some music in the streets. If not just look around for the same name brands at other stores, but try to find a better price. Once you get what you want, you can get a do it yourself manual from Crutchfield or someplace, or just go back to Radio Shack and have them install it. Installation should be about a hundred bucks. That's all to it.
Peace Out.....

Please don't. First of all, you should spend your money on a dictionary instead because you're talking about a music not a ball game. The proper spelling here is bass. Also, whenever someone installs one of these things, it is just an annoyance to the surrounding cars. I don't know how many times my music has been ruined at a traffic light because of the thumping bass from the car next to me.
