Champion Bloodlines? If a dog has champions like 5 generations back, but nothing closer than that, is it still considered champion bloodlines?

guess I need to rephrase a little here.

If a litter is bred, and the closest champion in the pedigree is 5 generations back, how can a breeder claim "Champion Bred" pups?

I wouldn't consider that champion bloodlines, the champs are too far back.

I would want to see the majority of dogs in the pedigree having their championships, through ALL generations.

5th generation means nothing, although I don't doubt there are some questionable breeders who would use it as a sales pitch.

ONE pet quality dog in the first couple generations can ruin the whole pedigree. Are the grandparents titled? Are the parents? If one isn't titled, why not? If it is because of something like a broken leg, it is maybe not a big deal, there are occasionally very nice quality dogs that are not finished for some reason or other.

But if the only champions are several generations back, it means nothing. The first 3 generations are what matter most.

Good question! Lineage (pedigree) does tend to carry alot of weight, especially if the CH listed came from nowhere and just blew away the competition. If they sired or whelped several Champions regardless of how long ago it was.

To me if the Champions are within 3 generations they could be considered to have Champion Bloodlines

But Champion Bred means both sire and dam are titled champions!

actually yes, technically it is of champion bloodlines. But not of champion stock (parents). Beware, as the breeder who gives you this line is probably trying to make his/her dogs sound betteer than they are! generally, it doesn't matter is there are champions in the parentage (unless you too want a show dog), but you do need a breeder who is enthusuastic, dedicated and understands their breed well - then you'l have a happy healthy pup

A dog in this catagory would be of champion bloodlines, and the closer the champions are in its' generation would cause an increase in its' price.Yes it is still considered champion bloodlined.

A dog can have Champion Bloodlines, but will not always be of champion quality as there may be slight flaws.

I would think no but you can check with the kennel association in your area, and see what they come up with.
