just leave it out..if he is thirsty he will drink..
or put water in with his food it will soften it up for him and he will be getting water as well.. I have to do that with my dog or else he won't drink and he is 7 years old..
Or add a pinch of garlic powder to the water.. just for some smell..
Since it is so young.. try some wet stuff.. it contains water..

Make sure there is fresh water, plenty of it always available in a bowl that is easy for your puppy to access. A weighted bowl that can be bought at a pet store is good because it can keep the puppy from overturning it since you need one low enough for the puppy to easily drink from. Keep a close eye on your puppy and you may notice it is drinking but not necessarily when you are taking it to the bowl. If there seems to be a problem other than this I would take the puppy to a vet asap because dehydration in a young puppy can be serious.

HI YOU SHOULD HAVE HIM AT 7 WEEKS, HE IS NOT READY TO LEAVE MUM! I HAVE IN THE PAST USED PUPPY MILK YOU CAN BUY IT IN ASDA OR TESCO ITS A SMALL PACKET, I FOULD MY PUPS WOULD DRINK THAT BEFORE WATER, SO I USED THAT A PUT WATER WITH IT. IN THE MEAN TIME, PUT SOME WATER ON YOUR FINGER, HE IS YOUNG AND DOES NOT NO WHAT ITS THERE FOR. USE A SAUCER INSTEAD OF A BOWL, IF HE DOES NOT DRINK HE WILL HAVE PROBLEMS. MIX WATER IN HIS PUPPY FOOD UNTIL YOU CAN SEE HIM DRINKING. GOOD LUCK.

I'm not an expert but my Girlfriend told me how she got her dog's puppies to drink what is by (which seems kind of mean but it really isn't) taking them to a bowl of water and dunking thier little noses in the bowl of water and then they would go and lick the water off thier noses. and she did this maybe twice and the puppies learned to do it on thier own when they got thirst.
i do agree with the other person when they said your puppy is too young to be away from its mother. they shouldn't be away until at least 8-10 weeks. when you take them away too young they can have destress and never learn to potty outside or have alot of accidents in the house. you should take the dog back till it is at least 8 weeks old preferebly 10

Puppies should stay with their mother until they are 8 weeks, but despite what another poster said, your puppy is not "far too young" to be away from it's mother. I suggest getting the puppy checked out by a vet.

Try taking him to the water and put a little on your finger, then put it to his mouth. Let him lick it. That will let him know its meant for drinking. I had to do that with my puppy. After a couple of days, she started drinking it herself.

i just hope that you have not taken that pup away from the home of its mother he is to young to be away from mum not until he is at least 8 to 9 Weeks old is plenty young enough and as for the pup drinking water just keep putting the pup by the water and very gentle put a drop of water by his mouth of your hand or fingers he will soon drink it don't worry to much just keep taking him to the water or you could try giving the pup a drop of water every few hours with a small syringe try giveing the pup a very luke warm cup of tea but must be only warm and not to much milk make a small cup of tea and try to get the pup to drink it out uf a cup they love it and tea is good for the pup and pup needs to drink

he is very young i suggest you take him back for a few weeks if not then add milk to the water to colour it he probably cant see clear water as there is no smell to guide him but if you add milk making it weaker and weaker until he is o.k. lapping....at 7 weeks he should be lapping from at least your hand put a little in the palm of your hand and take to his mouth..you have to realise a puppy has been drinking upside down from the nipple and he has to learn to put his head down to eat and drink try with the palm of your hand and lower it until it is same height as waterbowl....

The best way to get any animal to drink out of a dish is to dunk it's nose in it for a second... it will then lick the water off it's nose and usually (if thirsty) start drinking.

You could put it in a small bottle and if he/she doesn't drink it he/she is obviously not thirsty so u should leave it in a bowl so he/she can get a drink when he/she is thirsty. Or keep on putting it in a bottle and see if it wants to drink it.
