To say you have control over what you feel and see is preposterous. You do not choose how you react, how happy or sad you are, and most of all, what you learn. Let's say you choose to read a book. That is not freewill because something in your personality wanted to read a book so you did. No one shapes his or her personality, the world does. Be rational; people are products of their environment. You don't choose to be you. How can you be you if you have a different life?

So you seem to be arguing for a purely deterministic illusion of free will? Free will as an emergent property of a net mass of neurons? Is this an argument about "nature vs. nurture"?

I'm not sure what your argument or question is, actually. But I would say that your initial question is false, or at least unsupported. If you are saying that my illusion of free will is god's gift or something, then I disagree.

Atheists generally tend to be more rational about most things.

I have selected to not suppose in god seeing that there's no evidence, now not seeing that there 'would possibly' be a God. With evidence, i could surely suppose in god. The handiest evidence that individuals deliver up is the life of difficult existence types, butterflies, or 'lovely sunsets." In the film “The Gods Must Be Crazy,” a local within the Kalahari Desert encounters technological know-how for the primary time--within the form of a Coke bottle. I observed this to be very a laugh, however I additionally started to peer parallels among his suggestion approach, and that of the latest day Theist. Both are utilizing CAVEMAN LOGIC to provide an explanation for their global. I fail to notice the change among “hmm, bottle fall from sky, ought to be gods” and “hmm, timber and butterflies end up the life of god.” In either one of those circumstances, anybody is without problems changing one unknown for a different unknown, however proving not anything! Not handiest can God now not be validated, however I may also cross as far as to mention that God may also be disproved. It is unimaginable for whatever to be all realizing and all well. If you're conscious that whatever dangerous goes to occur, and also you permit it to occur besides, then you definately can't be all well. If God created the whole thing, then he additionally created evil. It may be unimaginable to be all-robust; can God create a rock that even he himself can't transfer?

Humans are not puppets and do not sit there with someone's hand up their butts doing the talking for them. When someone does the talking for them that's called being brainwashed. Society can shape the people around them but it all amounts to personal decisions. If I live in a drug infested area, it's MY choice if I want to get caught up in that mess or move to a better place. You can step down from your soapbox now.

There is something called emotional maturity. You make some valid points but some of us have a grasp of our emotions and CAN change our feelings. If you let your emotions run your life you will end up somewhere you dont want to be.

Take love for example...no I cant make myself love someone or not love someone. However, I can choose not to date losers , therefore I do not fall in love with one.

I don't claim I have control over what I feel and see. I claim that no god has control over what I feel and see. Of course I'm not entirely powerful. Right now, I'm stuck at home because it's raining, so I can't go out and to what I have to. Only that this is the weather. NOT God.

We are shaped by our environment to a degree, just as to a similar degree we are shaped by our genetics... however, we do have the opportunity to make decisions and have opinions as individuals and that is freewill.

I sure don't know what you're trying to prove with all this free will stuff. If one person, for whatever reason believes in God while another does not believe, just what is the difference to either one. I do not believe, what do you care ? If you do believe, I sure don't care.

You believe in determinism other people don't. It's preposterous to believe that your outlook is any more valid than anyone else's. You're dealing in subjective opinions not verifiable facts.

This really depends on your definition of free will as well. If I will myself to float up three and a half feet above the ground, I will fail. There will always be constraints as long as we live in a world with external factors.
